- Navigate many sources of information, including the internet, online libraries, and popular media sites. -Select the right tool for finding the information you need -Recognize that not all information is created equal -Evaluate whether information is misleading, biased, or out of date -Manage information to become a knowledgeable decision maker

What are some practices search engines use when listing search results?

-Search engines list the most relevant results, or hits on the first page -Results labeled as an "ad" or "Sponsored Link" are from advertisers -Each type of filter offered related features. For example, if you filter Google search results to show only images, you can filter the images by size, color, and usage rights, which indicate when you can use, share, or modify the images you find online. -In addition to listing related links at the bottom of the SERP, Google displays a "People also search for" list below a link you visited.

How can you get the most out of a web search?

-State what kind of information you are seeking, as specifically as possible -Phrase the search term as a question, as in "How do businesses use augmented reality?" -Identify the keywords or phrases that could answer the question -Select an appropriate search tool.

A right that indicates when you can use, share, or modify the images you find online.

Specialized search tools

A search tool that concentrates on specific resources, such as scholarly journals or the United States Congress

Wildcard

A special symbol that substitutes for unknown characters in search text; the most common are the question mark, which stands for any single character, and the asterisk, which represents any group of characters

Query
