DMD Lesson 8
Inheritance
Heredity, also called inheritance or biological inheritance, is the passing on of traits from parents to their offspring; either through asexual reproduction or sexual reproduction
genome
all of the genes present that make up an organism
Genes
is the basic physical and functional unit of heredity.
DNA
is the molecule that carries genetic information for the development and functioning of an organism. It is made of two linked strands that wind around each other to resemble a twisted ladder known as a double helix.
Interchangeably
product is interchangeable if it is biosimilar to the reference product and is expected to produce the same result.
genotype
the gene combination of a trait
phenotype
the physical appearance of a trait in an offspring
Chromosome
threadlike structures made of protein and a single molecule of DNA that serve to carry the genomic information from cell to cell.
allele
two versions of a trait, one from mom and one from dad
