Knee Brace Hinge
Grasp the center of the hinge at the joint pull the hinge towards you or away from the cap of the casket
Apron/Skirt
Hangs vertically from the throw or attached directly to the underside of the foot panel the lining attached to the undersurface of the foot panel of the casket and/or a component part of the throw (overlay) which extends downward into the body of the casket
Extendover
Interior fabric that drapes over the top body molding the portion of the casket interior which extends over the top body molding for aesthetic value
Cast
Most expensive hardware production method in which molten metal is poured into a mold, allowed to cool then removed from the mold
Bar
One actually grips when lifting the casket: that part of the casket handle, attached to the lug or arm which is grasped by the casket bearer
Corner
Optional hardware that attaches to the body panel
Hinge Cover
Piece of cloth that covers the hinge
Cap Bracket Hinge
Place thumb in thumb in groove and push the hinge towards the cap of the casket

a piece of fabric used to cover the body of the deceased, especially the lower legs and feet
Body Lining
material that drapes the inside perimeter of the body of the casket
Pillow
soft padding material covered in fabric and used to support the head of the deceased -Foot Pillow and Blanket (Common for full-couch caskets) -Pillows can be adjusted according to need (covering cranial autopsy incisions) -Keeping the extra "stuffing" when removed can be utilized for other stuffing purposes
Cap Panels
the focal part of the interior which fill the inside portion of the crown, sometimes bordered by the roll (cove) The inner side of the crown, often surrounded by a border -Head Panel - head portion on a half-couch -Foot Panel - foot portion of the half-couch -Inner/Insert Panel- Functional or ornamental covering that usually covers the foot end of the casket(full-couch caskets)
Mattress
-Adjustable - up/down, some with side-to-side tilt with hex key -Stationary - Cannot be moved, usually contains filler
Corners/Corner Pieces
-An optional part of the hardware that is attached to the four corners of the body panels -Aesthetic in nature, and functional as well -Can be interchangeable according to style or design

Stamped
A hardware production method of lesser expensive whereby the casket hardware sections are pressed out on a hydraulic press
Swing Bar
A moveable casket handle with a hinged arm. -It can be full-length or individual.
Stationary Bar
A non-moveable handle. -It can be full-length, or individual
Bail Handle
A single handle in which the arm, lug and bar are in one combined into one unit
Hinge Skirt
Covers the hinge pieces and extends from the bottom of the roll and becomes part of the body lining - It may actually touch the deceased
Gimp/Fold
Decorate trim surrounding the outer perimeter of the roll, anchoring the roll in position -It serves as an aesthetic transition from fabric to wood or metal -Can be made of plastic, metal or cloth a strip of metal, plastic or cloth that is attached to the inside of the panel covering the area at which point the roll (cove) is anchored to the cap
Roll/Cove/Puffing
Elevated rounded border surrounding the cap panel a component part of the casket interior which lines the rim (ogee) and surrounds the cap panel
