allows you to check your document for errors, add comments to a document, track changes, make changes, compare your document to the sources you used, protect the document and to regulate the changes that can be made to the document

Mailings Tab

consists of the groups for creating envelopes and labels, starting a mail merge, writing and inserting fields and viewing the results of your actions

Text Group

enables a user to insert and manipulate the current date and time, quick parts, word art, drop cap, objects, signature line and text boxes

citations and bibliography group

help keep track of resources used to write a paper

View Tab

holds the groups which affect how you see the document on the screen

References Tab

includes the Table of Contents, Footnotes, Citations & Bibliography, Captions, Index and Table of Authorities group

insert captions into your document

Protect group

lets you protect your document from others editing it

themes group

page layout tab, lets you add and modify the theme of your document to make it unique

Home Tab

primary tab - contains the more frequently used commands

proofing group

review your doc and make sure there aren't any mistakes

Page Layout Tab

shows all of the options to change the theme, setup, background, paragraph and arrangement of a page

Font Group

under the home tab; contains the buttons to format appearance of font in text

Illustrations Group

under the insert tab; this group allows you to insert photographs, clip art, shapes, and any other graphic desired, and to format these graphics
