Why would AT&T schedule their call centers well over capacity? Use bullet points to list at least three reasons we discussed in class.
AT&T can make more money Operators are more productive AT&T is not worried about losing customers
Explain how AT&T could improve their Customer Service Level at the Call Centers? How could they leverage data to improve service?
AT&T could improve their customer service level by letting the customer know how long of a wait they may have to talk to an actual person. If Someone told the customer they had to wait 20 minutes and they decided to wait 20 minutes, they cannot be mad because that's what they signed up for. If no information is given, and they have to wait 20 minutes, customers will start to get antsy and angry. Understanding how many calls will come in per minute and deciding how many people to staff during that time is crucial information that these call centers will use. They can leverage data by using the exponential distribution formula to figure out exactly the amount of calls coming in by the minute. This allows them to not only know how many people to staff, but also gives the wait time for the customer in the previous paragaph.
