Olfactory pathways (3 steps)

step 1

Oderant molecules from the air is dissolved on mucous membrane, in nasal passageways

Step 3

olfactory nerves depolarize and send signal to the olfactory bulb and down olfactory tract and to the olfactory area of the cerebral cortex where smell begins then goes to frontal lobe (orbitofrontal are) where identification and discrimination begins.

step 2

olfactory receptors are stimulated and send impulse to olfactory nerves
