Sigmoid Mesocolon

-mesentery that covers the sigmoid colon and attaches it to the posterior abdominal wall -contain sigmoidal arteries, portions of the inferior mesenteric plexus, and lymphatics

Lesser Omentum

Double layer of peritoneum that extends from the liver to the lesser curvature of the stomach.

Mesentery Proper

Fan shaped fold of visceral peritoneum that connects the small intestine to the posterior wall

Greater Omentum

Fold of peritoneum that hangs from the stomach over the abdominal organs (fatty apron)

Greater Omentum Sub-Parts

Gastrophrenic Ligament Gastrosplenic Ligament Gastrocolic Ligament

Parts of the Lesser Omentum

Hepatoduodenal Ligament Foramen of Winslow Hepatogastric Ligament

Transverse Mesocolon

Mesentery that attaches the transverse colon to the abdominal wall

Hepatoduodenal Ligament

Part of the Lesser Omentum, extends from the Liver to the First Part of the Duodenum - contains the portal triad (hepatic artery, portal vein, common bile duct), connects the liver to the duodenum - May be compressed at the Foramen of Winslow to control bleeding, connects the greater and lesser sacs

Hepatogastric Ligament

Part of the Lesser Omentum, extends from the Liver to the Lesser Curvature of the Stomach consists of a dense cranial portion (pars densa) and the caudal portion (pars flaccida). Near the stomach, it carries both the right gastric artery and the left gastric artery.

Foramen of Winslow

Passage between the greater sac (general cavity (of the abdomen)), and the lesser sac.

Mesentery Mobility

Those organs that have a mesentery or meso-(organ), came from the dorsal mesentery. They are mobile, so they can undergo peristalsis or churn.

Mesentery

a double layer of peritoneum that attaches to the back wall of the abdominal cavity and supports the small intestines extends between visceral and parietal peritoneum - conduit for vessels, nerves, and lymphatics - tethered to PAW - Contain Intraperitoneal Organs
