Flowsheet

In the paper world, clinicians would document a wide variety of patient data in paper _______________ (e.g. pain assements, height and weight, vitals). In Epic, clinicians document this informaiton to electronic _______________. The QuickBar allows you to efficiently document the most common flowsheet information that is collected repeatedly, like vitals.

Differentiate between SmartTexts and SmartPhrases.

In the past, SmartTexts and SmartPhrases had distinct differences in functionality. Now, the differences between the two are becoming less evident, as they both can contain big or small amounts of text, SmartLinks, and SmartLists. The differences are summarized here: Scope - SmartTexts might encompass a results letter or an entire note about a visit from beginning to end, whereas many SmartPhrases are typically not so complex. Who makes them - SmartTexts are built by builders (project team members, physician builders, and clinical builders). SmartPhrases are built by users (user phrases) and builders (system phrases). Review and maintenance process - SmartTexts are usually maintained by an appointed group and reviewers are responsible for the content. User SmartPhrases are not formally reviewed, whereas system phrases might be reviewed. How users summon them - SmartText: Use the Insert SmartText field on the toolbar. SmartTexts can also be set up to appear by default. For example, a SmartText can be a part of a SmartSet, or a SmartText can appear by default in a discharge summary note type. SmartPhrase: Type a dot (period) and then completion match on the phrase's name. Or, use the Butler to search.

What happens when a physician signs a study?
