4 Phases: Menstrual Phase- the phase that the old blood is released Follicular phase- begins new egg maturation and new wall of blood developed Ovulation- egg is released and ready for fertilization Luteal phase- leads to next menstrual cycle where the egg is either fertilized or not It is important because it makes having a baby possible.
Why is the term urogenital system more applicable to males than females?
Because the Uretha does not play a part in the reproductive system of females nor does it help with intercourse, fertilization, incubation, nor delivery.
What ovarian structures produce estrogens? Name the second hormone produced by the same structures.
Estrogens is produced by the ovaries, it also produces progesterone which it gets the uterus ready fo fertilization.

Fallopian Tubes-provide path for eggs, fertilization takes place Uterus- receive, contain, and nourishes fertilized egg Vagina- takes "egg" now baby to the exterior of the body

Fertilization is when the sperm connects with a matured egg. occurs in fallopian tubes Implantation is eggs attaching to the wall of the uterus, can cause blood drippings, where a baby would begin to grow.
What is a follicle? What is ovulation?
Follicle- is a fluid-filled sac that holds immature eggs Ovulation- is the process of the egg being released into the fallopian tubes
What are the major events of puberty?
Growth in height or width, hips widen, growth of genital hair, growth of other hair (legs, armpits), increase in oily skin and sweat, menstrual cycle begins, hand/feet/leg rapid growth can cause girls to be clumsy.
The female cell that is ovulated is not a mature sex cell (ovum). When or under what conditions does it become mature?
It happens in Oogenesis, it becomes mature after it splits, released from the follicle, one they both are released and the secondary opum is ready for fertilization.
What is the indifferent stage of embryonic development?
It is when the embryo can either grow male or female features.
Define menopause. What does this mean to a woman?
It is when the women stops maturation of eggs and production of hormones slow, this means it should be not possible to have children. They shouldn't get pregnant.

Males- testosterone production slow, sperm production slows and becomes less healthy Female- hormones slow, menopause, period length changes, walls become weaker and less stretchy, lower sex drive.

Oxytocin is released causing the contractions although there are many other theories. For example, some believe the baby induces the process by releasing hormones or chemicals to the mother.
