As the population increased, they didn't have enough food to feed their people

Because there were surrounded by oceans and steep mountains

How did farmers overcome their challenges?
-They grew plants that did not require much land and rain, they cut earth steps in the mountains, they raised goat and sheep, grew crops such as fruit and nut trees, grapes, and olives that don't take up too much space.
What were some of the challenges GREEK FARMERS faced??
-Rocky land -No major rivers ran through Greece - Limited rain (only in the winter) - little flat land
Why was travel challenging for the ancient greeks?
-The seas were stormy and dangerous -Travel through the mountains was hard -It was hard to walk on rocky and unpaved roads.
What actions did the ancient Greeks take when starting a new colony?
-They asked an oracle to ask the Greek GODs if the colony would be successful -They gathered food and supplies -They took a flame from their sacred fire so they could have fire in their land.
What is an oracle?
A holy person that could speak with the Gods.

There were limited land and few resources

They asked them if they would be successful.
