Always behave as ladies and gentlemen, use mannerisms and language appropriate for school. (Be respectful)

(Be respectful) Be respectful of fellow classmates' belongings including materials, lab set-ups, displays, and projects.

Types of Work (Be responsible & be ready)

All grades are calculated on a percentage correct. This is the number of correct answers divided by the total number of points. Final grade is based on categories (Individual Assignments 25%, Daily Points 5%, Projects and Lab work 20%, Tests and Quizzes 50%) for the quarter (9 weeks).

2nd offense

An after-school detention will be assigned.

3rd offense

An office referral will be submitted.

RRR

Be respectful. Be responsible. Be ready

Quizzes (50%)

Quizzes will be given randomly as we review the material and/or unit. Most quizzes will be announced, however, pop quizzes will pop up!

Projects (20%)

There will be several projects throughout the year. Some are partner or group projects, while others are individual projects. Class time may or may not be used to research, develop, and implement the project. You will always be given a time frame and final due date for the project when it is introduced. Projects are due on the final date. Late or "forgotten" projects will receive an automatic 10% deduction per day. Partner and group projects may have a participation grade determined by a self-evaluation, partner/group evaluation along with my evaluation.

Bathroom Passes

You will be given 9 bathroom passes for the semester. It will be your responsibility to keep track of the passes. You will fill one out and present it to me for my signature for your use. If you do not have your passes then you will not be leaving my classroom. If you run out of passes then you will not be leaving my classroom.

Late work will be

assessed a 10% deduction per day(based on correct answers) for late work and will be a "0" after 10 working days. An after-school homework detention may be assigned if too many assignments are not completed and turned in.

Individual Assignments (25%)

ndividual assignments are usually homework. Homework is due the day after it is assigned (unless otherwise instructed) at the beginning of class. Homework will be submitted to CANVAS by the assigned time or it will be considered late. Always check CANVAS for your homework assignment. If your homework is not complete or not turned into CANVAS, it will be considered late.

Grading Scale (Be responsible)

A = 100 - 90 B = 89 - 80 C = 79 - 70 D = 69 - 60 F = 59 - 0

1st offense

A phone call home will be made

Extra Credit (Be responsible)

Extra credit opportunities MAY be available at certain times for all students. If extra credit is available, it is designed to help you "over the hump" to a letter grade higher - not to make up for not doing your homework resulting in a poor grade. Any student with more than five (5) "missing" assignments will not be able to participate in extra credit opportunities.

Absences (Be responsible, be respectful, & be ready)

I believe it is important to be in school every day. It is your responsibility to make up work from your absence. Missed assignments may be checked on the TSC CANVAS website and your missed assignments will be located in your class area on CANVAS. Missed labs will usually not be made up, however, an alternative assignment may be given if deemed appropriate. Absent work MUST be placed in your class area on CANVAS by you on the day it is due. You will have the number of days missed to make up the missed assignments.

Lab Work

Lab work will be done individually, with a partner, or with a group. It is important for you to contribute and participate when working with a partner or group. Not contributing or non-participation will result in an alternate assignment. All students must follow lab instruction and safety rules. Horseplay and messing around WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!!! Inappropriate behavior during a lab will result in removal from the lab and an alternative assignment will be given.

Daily points (5%)

There are several ways to earn daily points. Bell Ringers are daily questions, reflections, writing prompts, critical thinking activities, or lesson reviews completed at the beginning of class. "Exit Tickets" are questions or prompts given about the day's lesson. The students will answer these and turn in at the end of class. Behavior during class and class attendance will also determine your daily points. If you are absent you can earn partial credit by completing the Bell Ringer and any online activity that would be found on CANVAS for the day.

Tests

There will be a test at the end of each unit. The unit test will require you to use several different learning skills - from lower-level recall and recognition of facts to higher-level interpretation and critical thinking skills. There could also be short answer/essay questions. Review sheets will be created by the student during an in class review session. I require at least an 80% on most tests. Therefore, those tests will be open for retakes until the end of the school day they are assigned. To calculate your current grade take the earned points for a category divide that number by the points possible for the same category. Then take that answer and multiply it by the weight. Add all the category answers up and that is your current grade for the nine weeks. If you have questions please let me know and I will be happy to walk you through the process. Placeholder grades will be placed into the gradebook to help give a true representation of your student's grade at the beginning of each grading period. These placeholder grades possibly could be removed from the gradebook once other grades are added the categories. This will allow the gradebook to use each category and not "leave out" categories from the calculation of your student's grade.

Do not disturb anything around the room!(Be respectful)

This includes any lab equipment, any items on the book shelves, drawers, cabinets, etc. My desks and the front board are off limits - this includes anything setting on or around this area.

Lab Equipment (Be respectful, be responsible, & be ready)

When we do lab activities, you are responsible for the lab equipment. Restitution will be made by the student for any intentional breakage or destruction of lab equipment. All lab supplies and equipment must be cleaned, put away, and accounted for before class will be dismissed.

Student Responsibility

YOU are responsible for your learning and being prepared. If you don't understand something or are confused, please see me for help! Asking for help is not a sign of weakness; it is a sign of strength! I am available to meet with you during homeroom or after school - just ask! Don't wait until the test to ask for help - it's too late by then! Don't procrastinate on longer assignments or projects. Throwing them together at the last minute will not demonstrate your best work! You may be jeopardizing not just your grade, but also your partners or group's grade. (And your parents/guardians will be REALLY upset with you, too!) You cannot fail Tech. Ed. (or anything) if you give 100% effort. So I expect you to always do your best and you will be on your way to success!!!

Quarter Grade and Semester Grade (Be responsible)

Your grade will be calculated based on the points available from the category weights. Your semester grade will be the average of the two previous nine weeks grades plus the semester final. **Don't forget - the 9-week incentive opportunity is based on NO end-of-quarter D's or F's, 70% of your homework completed and turned- in ON TIME, good effort given on your Acuity and ISTEP assessments, no more than 5 tardies, and no ISS or OSS.

You must

have 70% homework completed and turned in ON TIME to be eligible for the 9 week incentive reward. Make up work is your responsibility. Check Canvas (online) for your missed assignments such as handouts and worksheets. Cheating and/or copying of any assignment, lab, quiz, or test will result in an automatic "0" on the item for ALL parties involved!

Technology Education Classroom Expectations

not be tardy to class. Bring all necessary materials to class. (Chromebook, pencil, pen) Use the restroom before coming to class. No gum (candy, food, etc. in the Tech Ed. classroom unless cleared by me.)
