Alex was jealous of Paul because he could afford anything he wanted, even an expensive drum set and guitar for the garage. Paul was actually very sad because he had no friends to join his band. Alex didn't have much money, but had friends over every night and really enjoyed his life. Over time Alex and Paul became friends and soon Paul had enough friends to form a band and he was finally happy. A. Money cannot buy happiness. B. You should not be jealous of other people.

Ed's math test was next week and he still didn't know how to do long division. He gave his best effort in class and asked questions, but was still confused. Ed went home each night and did practice problems. The night before the test he was doing a practice problem and everything clicked. He finally figured out how to do long division. When test day arrived he was sure he would pass, and he did, he earned an "A+." A. Persistence pays off B. Practice problems are the best way to study for math tests.

Every day, Jim sat alone at the lunch table. The other kids would sometimes pass by and say mean things to him to make him upset. Olivia always sat with her friends at the "cool table," and watched Jim eat alone. One day she walked over to Jim and ate lunch with him. She treated him like any other friend and had a great conversation with him, they actually had a lot of things in common. From then on, Jim sat at Olivia's table, and nobody bothered him again. A. Susan's leg was trembling under her desk. Susan had not studied at all and didn't know what to do, she didn't want to fail after all. She noticed out of the corner of her eye that she could see the answers to her classmate's paper right next to her. As she was copying down the answers, she felt a looming presence coming up from behind her. As Susan turned around she saw her teacher snatch her paper and put a large red F right on the top, she had failed. A. Cheating does not pay off in the end. B. Studying will always earn a good grade.

This Saturday morning Tad wanted to play with his building blocks on the living room floor. Tad couldn't decide if he wanted to build a house, or a boat as he usually does; but this time he decided to build a bridge. After the bridge was built, Tad left a mess on the floor and went to his room to watch TV. Moments later Tad heard a loud scream, his dad had stepped on a block and injured his foot. A. Zoe felt bad for some of the kids in her class, they were struggling to get good grades. Zoe decided to help them study and all of them passed the next test. She also felt bad for her teacher who was in a wheel chair and struggled to open doors, so every day she made sure to open the classroom door for her. After dinner, John went to his room to study, but turned on the TV when he realized his favorite show was on. After the show he was tired and quickly fell asleep. Mark loves to hang out with his best friend Greg. On Saturdays they love to get together and play cards and video games, but recently Mark noticed that Greg was not showing up on time as he usually does. Week after week, Greg came to his house two hours late until one Saturday morning when Mark told Greg he would be at his house at noon. Mark replied, "OK, I'll see you at 2 P.M." The Fox family was eager to go on their first vacation. They had never been to the shore before because they lived over a 1,000 miles away. Later on, each of them became very red from the sun and had to go back to the store to buy sunburn cream. For the rest of the day they had to rest in their hotel room. A. Tim was so excited when he got to Disney World. But when he got to the water park he started to cry; he forgot his swimsuit! "It's ok" he said to himself, I'll just buy a new one. After a few hours Tim and his friends were hungry and went to the Be Our Guest restaurant. Tim was so ashamed of himself; he forgot his dinner money at the hotel and had to ask his friend's to pitch in. Tim said it wouldn't happen again. A. Theme parks are only fun when you are prepared.
