Occurs when the bone is twisted
Greenstick fracture
Partial fracture in which one side of the bone is broken and the other side is twisted. (Common in young children.
Comminuted fracture
The bone has splintered into several pieces at the site of the fracture
Complete fracture
The bone is broken into two or more pieces
Partial fracture
The bone is not broken into two or more pieces.
Closed (simple) fracture
The break does not break the skin
Open (compund) fracture
The fracture breaks the skin
Compreasion fracture
Bones are forced together.
