Crop

Cut the edges of (a photograph or story) in order to produce an image that conveys a desired effect.

Bias

Bias is prejudice in favor of or against one thing, person, or group compared with another, usually in a way considered to be unfair. (Not objective).

Confirmation Bias

The human tendency to search for information that supports our preconceptions and to ignore or distort evidence that contradicts our original opinion.

Narrative

A representation of a particular situation or process in such a way as to reflect or conform to an overarching set of aims or values

Assumption

A belief or statement taken for granted without proof.

Frame

A structure or narrative that shapes how people interpret an event or issue. The framing of an issue also determines what is left in and what is left out of the overall story and from what point of view the audience experiences it.

Fact

A thing that is known or proved to be true.

Opinion

A view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge.

Public Opinion

Consists of the desires, wants and thinking of the majority of the people. It is the collective opinion of the people of a society or state on an issue or problem.

Omit

Leave out or exclude (someone or something), either intentionally or forgetfully.

Unbiased

Showing no prejudice for or against something; neutral or impartial. (Objective).

Selection

The action of carefully choosing someone or something as being the best or most suitable for a specific purpose. Walter Lippmann said "Every news [story] is the result of a whole series of selections."

Agenda

The underlying intentions or motives of a particular person or group.

Objective

To be objective means that you are not influenced by personal feelings or opinions in considering and representing facts. (Not subjective or biased).

Subjective

To be subjective means that your opinion is influenced by personal feelings or views rather than relying on the available facts. (Not objective or unbiased).

Edit

To make changes by adding, deleting, or modifying text, graphics, or arranging various parts to form a coherent whole.
