Natural Number
The set of numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, ... also called counting numbers.
Repeating Decimals
a decimal in which one or more digits repeat infinitely
Terminating Decimal
a decimal number that ends or terminates
Rational Number
a number that can be written as a fraction
Irrational Number
a number that cannot be expressed as a ratio of two integers or as a repeating or terminating decimal
Square Root
a number that when multiplied by itself equals a given number
Cube Root
a number that when multiplied three times equals a given number
Whole Number
a number without fractions; an integer, its opposites, and zero,
Perfect Cube
a rational number whose cube root is a whole number.
Perfect Square
a rational number whose square root is a whole number
Radical Sign
a symbol to indicate a root
Radicand
the number under the radical sign
Real Number System
the set of all rational and irrational numbers
