1. Evey has been captured! What is her life like as a prisoner? Why is she being tortured? What do her captors want from her?

As a prisoner she is tortured, she is hardly fed and she is starving, because she cannot get herself to eat, she does not see any humans and she is just stuck in her cell. They shave her head. The guards shove her head into the water trying to get information out of her. She is being tortured because they found out about her relationship with V and how she has assisted him in killing people, they show a video of her being by a fingerman. They want to get information about V but she refuses to give it to them or tell them who V is.

2. Why do we think V might be dead at the end of this chapter?

Because as he finishes his speech we see the soldiers open fire on V and he falls through the window of the TV building outside.

2. How did V escape from Jordan Tower?

Directly after making his speech, he manipulated his enemies' expectations and disguised Roger Descombe as himself in order to successfully escape without being seen by anyone.

1. Evey and Rosemary are at the same club, how are both of them doing? What's this club like?

Evey is happy with Gordon has she feels protected by the gangster and is able to have fun but Rosemary is lonely as no one will talk to her because of the fact that the past two men she has been with has died. At this club, people are getting drunk and listening to a singer who talks about sexual lifestyle and how good Norsefire is making people think that the society they live in is good.

. Mr. Finch, the lead detective on this case, is sent on a vacation for misconduct. What did he do?

He attacked Creedy when they were arguing about how the men killed Roger Descombe assuming it was V.

. Preludes are often set to music. What is the purpose of the prelude here? Why do you think V is so interested in music and theatrics? Why might he treat this world like a play or opera?

He is showing how destroyed the society is becoming through his song.he is interested in music because of how he wishes society was and that the society is a fantasy and not how people should be living and treated.

. What happens to Gordon?

He is stabbed by the men that trick him into opening the door when they say that they just want to talk, he is stabbed because they say that he owes money from all the items that he has been selling on the black market.

1. How does V infiltrate Jordan Tower to get into the room where the program director, Roger Dascombe, works?

He pulls up his cape and shows him that he is fully equipped with weapons, in fear they agree to do whatever V says.

2. What is V's surprise for Evey?

He takes her to an abandoned streets where she is alone and cold, he replaces himself with a tape recorder and a dummy, she is left all alone in the cold. All she wants to do is go home.

1. V plays a pre-recorded video of himself, what is his message to the people?

He tells the people that the human race is not reaching its full potential, they are letting the powers control them and they are not completing things that they are capable because they are conforming to their society who makes undermines their abilities to strive above and complete incredible accomplishments. He talks about liberty and human progress.

2. Why does Evey have a gun? What happens to her right as she is about to avenge Gordon's murder?

She has a gun because she plans to kill the men who killed Gordon. When she is about to kill the men, a figure comes in and takes the gun, taking her out so she does not kill them, we assume it is V.

3. What is Rosemary doing at the Kitty-Kat Keller club?

She has become a showgirl for the men at the Kitter-Kat Keller club performing for the high authoritative men in order for comfort that she no longer has since her husband has died.

1. This chapter begins with a series of images and scenes from Evey's life. It's as if she is unconscious having a nightmare. Yet, we actually realize she is living a nightmare when she wakes up. What has happened to her?

She has been sent to a Norsefire prison, where slogans of Norsefire are all over the wall.

1. Rosemary and Evey bump into each other again. What is Rose doing?

She is going to the Kitty Kat Keller

. Like Evey, Rosemary (Derek Almond's widow) is feeling very alone and vulnerable at the beginning of this chapter. What is her life like now that her husband is gone?

She is poor, she has no money as she got no money after her husband died. She has no way of getting a job and she has so many bills to pay. She is lonely with nothing to do but pay the bills.

2. At the end of this chapter, Evey says to Gordon, "He was right, wasn't he? We shouldn't have to live like this." Who is she talking about?

She is talking about Peter Creedy who is complaining to Gordon about how her mother was sent to a gas chamber and he cant get her out, asking Gordon to help, when he screams about the horrible life they are living in Norsefire.

1. How has Evey and Gordon's relationship progressed?

She moves into sleep in Gordons room when Gordon says he needs to use her room to make room to store items in her room. They have started to develope a sexual relationship, they have sex when Evey asks Gordon if she likes him.

1. What astonishing discovery does Evey make! (HINT: OMG!!!)

She realizes that all the guards are dummy's and she is not in a norsefire prison, and once she does not give up any information about V she is set free, she realizes that. She realizes that this was all set up because of the dummy's and tape recorders that she previously knew about V.

. At the end of this chapter, what does Evey refuse to do?

She refuses to give up any information about V.

What does she discover about Valerie?

That V got the letter from Valerie when he was in the holocost, and her letter inspired V just as it inspired EVey.

2. What is V's explanation?

That he was doing this to teach her a lesson that she must not confine to the society, that she should hold her secrets and do as she pleases not as she is told even if her life is on the line.

2. When V goes to infiltrate Jordan Tower, the TV station, what kind of show are the security guards watching? What does this say about this society?

The Security is watching the a new story and a childish sex comedy which undermines sexual harassment, seeing it as funny. This reveals that the society wants their citizens to not see sexual harassment as a horrible thing, making it seem ok.

4. What do the roses symbolize for V?

The happiness that was taken away from Valerie, so each time she kills someone she places a rose to show the happiness that he is trying to give back to Valerie. They symbolize death for V.

6. Book Two ends with V and Evey dancing, what does V tell her they're going to do?

They are going to give the word what Valerie wanted, the roses, which is happiness.

1. Evey and V seem to be getting along fine, until she asks him why he hasn't tried to sleep with her. She questions whether he's gay or her father. How does V react to this?

V feels as if Evey is so desperate for a father figure that is why he puts the idea in her mind that V is her father before she even says it. He wants to get the need for a father out of Evey's mind.

1. Who is Valerie? What is her story? How is she inspirational to Evey?

Valerie is another prisoner who sends a note to Evey telling her story. Valerie is a homosexual who fell in love with a women named Ruth and when Ruth was abducted after the war she was forced to give up Valeries name as they needed to punish homosexuals. She is inspirational to Evey because she never gave up her integrity and she still loves Ruth even after she gave up her name to the authorities. She relates to Valerie as they both are punished for doing nothing wrong, they are both deprived of their identity when their heads are shaved. This makes her have a human connection in a place where she is deprived of it. Valerie's message also reminds her of all the things that V taught her and Valerie reminds Evey of V.

3. Evey is now living with a man named Gordon? Is he a nice man? Why or why not?

Yes Gordon is nice to her, he is similar to V in the sense that he protects her but he is a gangster and he wants to survive in the horrible world.
