Full range model of leadership

*Transactional leadership: focuses on the clarifying employees' roles and providing followers with positive and negative rewards contingent on performance *Transformational leaders: engender trust, seek to develop leadership in others, exhibit self-sacrifice and serve as moral agents focusing themselves and followers on objectives that transcend the more immediate needs of the work group

Participative management

-delegating to employee how to do something -communicating significance of work-fit in -autonomy-giving trust, show your believe in them, remove barriers -resourced in what they're doing -core self evaluations -contingent pay practices -decision making participation

situational control

-leader-member relations:extent to which the leader has the support, loyalty, and trust of the work group -task structure: concerned with the amount of structure contained within tasks performed by the work group -position power: the degree to which the leader has formal power to reward, punish, otherwise obtain compliance from employees

-men and women were seen as displaying more task and social leadership -women used a more democratic or participative style -men used more autocratic and directive style

-rigid: cant adapt/not listening -intemperate: gets mad easily -callous:dishonest/not trust -insular: not communicate/cant inspire -evil: own agenda before others, egoistic

-suitability: employee profile fits the job requirements -sense of meaningfulness: task purpose is important and meaningful, understanding the context of the role -sense of autonomy: ability to use judgement and freedom when completing tasks, he/she needs me! -sense of achievement: i can do this job, and do it well -sense of progress: awareness of impact, role and contribution; praise and recognition
