What do you hope to do after graduation? Where do you see your self in 5 years? 10 years?

After graduation I hope to enter law school. I'm particuarly intersted in a joint Juris Doctor Degree and Master of Business Administration program. I then hope to be hired into the legal department of a corporation. I have an interest in the fashion industry so working for a large fashion corporation would be a dream. Eventually when I feel confident in my field, I plan to actively render pro bono publico legal services concurrently, particularly (but not limited to) to those seeking immigration legal aid. Besides my career goals, I do hope to be married with kids by then hopefully 3 children!!

Why did you choose USC?

Although it is corny the school pride was what made me really love USC, especially because it wasn't found at my previous school, so there was really a sense of belonging in the community. Also because USC has a perfect balance between academic and social opportunities. And of course you can't forget the Trojan Network that comes with attending this premier institution.

Why do you want to join AKPSI?

As a prospective junior transfer student in the beginning of 2017, I had done extensive research prior to hearing of my acceptance to the USC on student organizations on campus that I hoped to get involved in. In search of a prestigious professional fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi was conspicuous among all the other organizations, as the oldest (1905) and largest business fraternity in the world (265 active chapters in the nation). Holding brothers of all majors and backgrounds, I knew there would be a certain uniqueness in the network of Alpha Kappa Psi unfindable anywhere else. Even then I still didn't know much about the Alpha Zeta chapter specifically of AKPSI besides the hard facts but fortunately, I had the opportunity to approach two friends and active members on their experiences with AKPSI. Both had spoke highly of the professionalism, guidance, network, and everlasting brotherhood of the organization. This sincerity was proved simply from meeting the brothers during the rush events. Right off the back at the meet the chapter at the AKPSI house, from meeting the brothers and seeing the interactions between the brothers, I immediately knew these were the people I wanted to be around for my next two years. "work hard play hard" mindset of everyone

What do you hope to gain from AKPSI?

Besides the brotherhood and friendships of course, I hope to gain the career and professional guidance that I really need. As you can see from my resume, I haven't had the opportunity to yet work in the my career field of interest. I hope that AKPSI can guide me through that. I have also grown a recent interest in consulting but do not know much about how to approach it. I remember hearing from an active, Karina, who came in knowing nothing of consulting before akpsi. Also brother Joann who used to be a business major but switched to CS with the guidance of akpsi brothers. Without akpsi i wouldn't be able to have these mentors by my side when i'm lost. having individuals around you who have similar career pursuits and and passions similiar or greater than yours puts you in a better place Also I hope that through working with akpsi, i'll grow and develop the skills needed to be successful in the workforce. I haven't been properly taught these skills. Specifically, I hope to learn to network better in all settings, and specifically related to that, i hope to improve my communication and speaking skills. Lastly, I hope to be able to be a part of the amazing AKPSI active and alumni network that I can fully benefit from.

one political issue going on right now? one business issue in the news?

DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals): President Trump's decision to repeal DACA, or the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, risks the deportation of roughly 800,000 young adults who were born outside the United States but have lived in the country for a decade. Experts say repealing DACA would worsen the shortage of workers in the United States. repealing DACA would also hit the U.S. government by deporting taxpayers. He forecasts a potential $60 billion loss in tax revenue to the federal government and $280 billion hit to economic growth over 10 years.

What can you contribute to AKPSI?

I believe my diverse experiences, skills, and character will make me a valuable potential addition to this extraordinary organization. First off, as a transfer student, I have the various experiences that I went through to get me to USC. I believe that nothing can beat the perseverance of a transfer student. In addition, my teamwork and leadership skills will become valuable as a brother of akpsi. I take pride in my teamwork skills that were developed working part-time jobs in various industries since high school. Collaboration and communication were important aspects in succeeding in these jobs. Although I am a team player, I am also a leader. I have been elected for leadership roles in school organizations such as the Student Government and a Honor Society. I have also co-founded a career club. At work, I have taken initiative as a leader amongst my coworkers in necessary situations when a manager or someone in a leadership position is absent

What types of people do you enjoy working with? How do you work in a team?

I love the idea of teamwork and working in a team environment and I prefer it over independent work. I think I work well with others as I am always open to new ideas and willing to listen. In a team, I can both lead and follow well. I say I'm good at clearly seeing a problem and planning a solution out. At my most recent job, we had an issue of communication and it was affecting our efficiency in store projects. I, therefore, approached my manager and proposed a plan to effectively delegate tasks which led to enhanced productivity and faster completion.

What are your interests and hobbies?

I recently have taken on kickboxing to build upper body strength so it has become a small hobby of mine although I do have a love-hate relationship with it ahhah. I also enjoy drawing and am looking into getting into typography.

Why did you choose your current major?

Interested in both the political science and business, I thought the IRGB Major was the perfect hybrid between the two. Where I can learn the relations between international actors while understanding it in the context of the global economy

tell me one thing you'd like to share on your resume that you love

My favorite experience on my resume was probably when i volunteered for Breakthrough Collaborative as a tutor. Every week after school, I'd gather with the same group of students that I helped with homework but also just being there as a mentor for them. These kids were motivated individuals from underpriviledged school districts who already had big dreams and goals of going to college. My experience at Ruffalo Noel Levitz is something I am proud of. As I had stated in my cover letter, I was recognized for receiving the highest credit card donation rate of 100% of all employees, which was around forty to fifty people. Not only did I want to mention this experience because I excelled but it was also a big learning experience for me. In this job, you sometimes end up speaking on the phone to a complete stranger for twenty minutes. You learn things about their life that possibly their closest friend doesn't even know. But I've come to appreciate listening to their stories because there's nothing more valuable hearing an older persons experiences. I've gained such valuable life advice and information from them. Also some people just need someone to talk to and it seemed like a lot of them didn't have that. Although in the end I was calling to ask for a donation, I did feel like I did something more meaningful.
