Why did some Greek settlements fight each other?
Because there was such a shortage of good farmland and a lot of people would love to settle in them while other people also wanted to settle in them too.

Boys and girls received military training from the age of 7. Boys lived and trained in barracks. Boys were taught to be brave soldiers by learning how to suffer physical pain without complaining. If men passed a text if they did they became soldiers if not they became slaves.

-Boys were taught at home until 6 or 7 and then they went to school until age 14. They learned reading, writing, arithmetic, literature, sports, and music. -Boys began military training at the age of 18. -Girls did not learn to read or write. Instead, they did housework. Some girls also learned songs.

-If they didn't have the goods they needed they stole it. -Slave sand noncitizens grew food and made goods, while Sparta men served as soldiers. -Sparta did conduct some trade but discouraged trade, in general. Its system of money(heavy iron bars) was difficult to use.

-The ruling power of Sparta was in the hands of a few people who were called the Council of Elders. The Council of Elders consisted of men who were at least 60 years old, form noble families, and elected lifetime terms.

-Women and slaves were not citizens and had far fewer rights than free men did. -A few women had jobs, but most women managed the household and raised children. -Slaves performed a variety of jobs, some of them highly skilled. Some slaved worked under harsh conditions in the silver metal mines.

How do you think the physical geography of Greece influenced where people settled and how they lived?
The physical geography influenced the people because the people would have to find new land or more land so they can farm and survive. It would've affected people because since there wasn't as much room for a lot of people in one place they would get separated. ANd also influenced settlement because I'm pretty sure people wanted live on flat land and near a river so that they could farm.

Travel by land was hard because roads were not paved. People had to bring their own food and other supplies with them. Sudden storms might send ships off course or sink them

We ignored the needs and the majority of the people. The poor turned to leaders in the army. These new leaders overthrew us.

Women lived the same simple life as men but had many more rights than other Greek women had. Teher were more slaves (also called helots) in Sparta than there were citizens. helots were treated very harshly because the Spartans were afraid the slaves would revolt. Helots had some rights, such as buying their freedom if they saved enough money.
