What is a bin?

What does the Add Edit Button do?
Add Edit Button Allows you to divide segments in the Timeline. (Similar to Blade in FCPX)
What is AutoPatching? How does it work?
Auto-Patching is a setting that allows you to automatically patch tracks based on track activation. Enable/Disable Tracks. By using keyboard shortcuts to change the activation of your tracks, you can patch tracks without reaching for the mouse.
You try to remove an audio segment from the sequence, but the first time you hit delete, the segment remains in place. The second time, it is deleted as expected. Why?
Because there is already empty space, called filler, on the audio tracks, so it may not be obvious when you first use Lift/Overwrite tool.
What is the principle goal of the rough cut?
Build the structure of the scene and telling the story.

Overwrite will leave everything else in the timeline locked in place. Splicing could move audio tracks out of sync.
