Bowline

used to form a non-slip loop in the end of a rope

Square Knot

used to join two pieces of rope that are the same width or two ends together.

Clove Hitch

used to secure a rope to a post and won't slip around

Round Lashing

used to tie two poles or sticks that are laying side by side, next to each other

Shear Lashing

used to tie two poles or sticks that are laying side my side, except the two poles can move, so the poles can stand upright instead of being stiff

Sheet Bend

used to tie two ropes of unequal thickness together

Square Lashing

used to tightly tie two poles or sticks on top of each other, forming a short t; the rope comes over the pole

Diagonal Lashing

used to tightly tie two poles or sticks on top of each other, forming an x; the rope comes over the opposite pole

Overhand Knot

used when a simple knot is needed; the most basic knot

Slip Knot

used when you need a loop that you can change and adjust the size of

Figure Eight

used as stopper knots and in climbing
