1-2 years. If you Avoid fast "high amp" charging. Storing Batteries in a cool dry place. In addition to using a low amperage external charger.
Married Batteries.
Always using the same battery for your device and also charging them at the same time. Using mismatched batteries can lead to: Early cell death, "battery low" messages, in mechs particularly it can cause potentially catastrophic results.
Dead Cell.
Battery that is below the safe minimum charge 2.80volts and is now has the potential to become permanently dead and not recharge
Why do you want to avoid water with batteries?
Because of rust and general water damage leading to battery failure. Submerging batteries in liquid can lead to catastrophic failure.
Correct Battery Polarity
Follow the battery orientation markers on the battery door. In mechanical devices typically you put the negative end in first. In series tube mechs both batteries stacked on top of each other both posistive down. In Parallel Mechs both batteries side by side positive up. In Series Mech Boxes side by side positive up on one side and positive down on the other side.
why do we keep batteries out of extreme temperatures?
Heat will lead to overheating with the possibility of explosion. Cold will cause the battery cell to slowly die.
Can i use onboard charge ports?
If the battery is built in yes. If the battery is removeable then use an external charger. On devices with external Batteries the "charge port" should only be used in emergencies or for firmware updates.
Why do we not put batteries loose in pockets or bags?
Metal or change in pockets can cause a hard short if they come in contact with battery poles. Also avoid Extreme Temps.
What would be an example of batteries in disrepair?
Nics or tears in the wrap. Missing or broken insulator, Arcing spots or rust, Bloating or dents.
Why is it not safe to go beyond a batteries Amp Limits?
Thermal expansion of the battery or thermal runaway or "venting". Also it will lead to limited life expectancy.
Can i use any battery in any device?
Use a high amp limit battery such as the Samsung 20S for Mechanical Mods. Use lower amp drain for regulated mods such as the Hohmwork 18650's. Also use the proper size for the mod in question. Like 18650's for the DragS or the Aegis Legend. 21700's for the Odin Dna.
Use Batteries from trusted manufacturers.
Use brands that you recognize from other industries. Examples would be: Samsung, LG, Sanyo, Panasonic. Using unknown brands can be dangerous if they Over estimate the battery limits.
Fast Charger
Yes but it will lessen your overall battery life expectancy. Its best to use a 1.0 amp charger or lower for extending the battery life.
