Is this an easy path to follow
No becuase it takes lots of time and self reflections to stop the bad actions. It cannot just happen so suddenly and it requires major life changes. You can't just decide to be a billionaire one day you have to build your way up.
Theravada
OLdest branch of Buddhism. Everything learned. Only monks can achieve nirvana becuase it requires a life to complete it. Like a marthon and it requires sacrifice. Oldest branch of BUddhism. Eventually you can be reincarnated into a monk Many don't reach enlightenment.
How does this help provide order
Others can help other people and be kinder making more rational decisions. Gets rid of desires and the ego is gone.
Dharma(Buddhism)
the teaching or religion of the Buddha.
8 eight fold path
Deep meditation. Next level of mindfulness. Concentrate until something clicks. Like your life is a camera out of focus and now with enlightenment you can focus. Right concentration
5 eight fold path
Devote your life to those who are in need. Treat others how you want to be treated. Right livelihood

Instead of suffering life goes the wrong way. We will all experience pain like birth sickness dependence death and we have to do stuff that we don't like like taking a test
Four Noble Truths of Buddhism
1) All life is full of suffering, pain, and sorrow. 2) The cause of suffering is desire. 3) The only cure for suffering is to overcome Desire. 4) The way to overcome suffering is to follow the Eightfold Path
How do the 4 noble truths bring order to society
1st one At one ppoint in their life they will experience sorrow and so it gets others to want to help others if they are not in sorrow 2nd Suddenly overtake and desire to take kingdom then they know that they would face great sorrow 3rd If they wanted to stop taking over the kingdom than they would stop the suffering 4th A nonviolent way to achieve one's desire without causing suffering

Being mindful and think what it is motivating you. Like when your about to scream then think why you are going to scream. Right mindfulness
Siddhartha gautama
Born in 563 BC in what is now nepal Siddhartha gautama Father was a king (more like a feudal lord) Physically attractive and rich In his 20s became upset with life and tried to find a deeper meaning Was widely respected Royal history made him comfortable with the powerful, but still begged in the streets with the poor Ministry for about 45 years Died around 483 BCE about 80 years old He didn't write anything 1.5 centuries between his life and written record Seems to be faithful, but will of course raise questions
Buddha is different from Hinduism in a general way because
Buddhism shouldn't really care about the supernatural or gods. They don't care about the after life. Buddhists should only care about how they live.

Hinduism: Believe in importance of ritual and fuffilling duty/dharma Atman and Brahman eternal Follow authority of vedas, dharma, and wisdom of yoga Buddhism: Believe in indivdual experience will achieve detachment. Buddha felt in Hinduism many were doing their duty becuase they were forced to and their parents would drag them to temple. Buddha believed that there should be the 8 fold path and it could be independent. Believe in reincarnation, but it doesn't matter with what happens after death doesn't matter. THe point is to live and end suffering. Follow the 8 fold path which is the only way and it is indivdual.
What is the pararble of the arrow
IT shows that although all the questions who shot the arrow similar to what do we do after we die, it shows that all of those are intresting questions but at the moment you want enlightenment.
Suffering ends when desire ends
If life is feeling dislocated then that is because of our selfish craving To overdone this we need to be not selfish
Is buddhism harder or easier then other religions
It is harder than other religions in which is requires more to do ,but compared to other religions it is easier when you see the one can easily see that you ease into the habbits of whatever you are doing.
Why is the 8 fold path called the middle way
It is the middle between 2 extremes.

It is when you say something bad and you try not to ,but it happens. Buddha knows this is hard and so he Buddha knows that you should be mindful of what you say Lying is to protect your ego Right speech
What does it mean to single mindely call his name
It means to pray to the Gods or to the Buddha for powers

Major sections of the world are gone and many more can be posistive. Many jobs will be gone

Same thing as right speech Try to help others but it is understandable when you lash out or yell so one should acknoldedge why they are doing that and that is their ego so you should try and diminish your ego. Stop stealing of cheating Right conduct

Seperate your desires from your needs which will limit suffering. Sacrifice desires. You have to be willing sacrifice. So this means like will you actually do the 4 truths. Right intent

THey represent that Buddhism is changing and that it is becoming more like HInduism with gods, prayer, arts, and more.

What is Amitabha?
A heaven that you go when you die. You can go there when you die and pray to the god Amitabha. Unlike tradditional Buddhism there is an afterlife and supernatural. This is a focus on death and so this is not true Buddhism becuase the Buddha would just say don't worry about it
Why did Buddhism spread more than Hinduism?
A major difference is that BUddhism doesn't have any caste and so if a hindu tried to get others into caste 1 most wouldn't want to be the lower class and 2 others have no idea what their caste was. So when Buddhism came aound they would be able to actually convert to it.
Suffering is caused by desire
A specific type of desire is caused by private fulfillment ego makes us suffer and when we are selfless we are free this is very hard though Where is the person that is as worried for others kids to be hungry as he is as hungry for his own kids
Siddhartha Guatama
From a noble family of hinduism. Founder of Buddhism From a noble family from the foothills of the HImalawas of Nepal. He was barely allowed to go out and when he did he saw suffering and so he spent 6 years of his life looking for wisdom. Eventually he meditated under a tree for 49 days until he achieved enlightenment
6 eight fold path
Goal is to keep steady rate of effort and it takes time to get there. Longer patientce and persitatinece is more valued Like a marathon endurance is better than speed Right effort
Similarities of Hinduism and Buddhism
Hinduism: Brahman: The atman strives to be one with the universe Karma and dharma: Rules that govern what we should do in an earthly existance Moksha Sipuratual awaking Reincarnation Buddhism Nirvana: State of being where you end up. Strive for this and to achieve truth without suffering caused by your ego MIddle way: Rules on how to live Enlightenment: Sipuratual awakning. Path to getting to nirvana. Like moksha Reincarnation: Buddha means that reincarnation is like a flame and when you die it goes out. That means that your just gone until your soul comes back into another body. You will only know until you reach Nirvana.
Mahayana
Popular form Used to be only the 8 fold path but now it is prayer, ritual, temples. All conventual forms of a religion come back. But, then many converted to Hinduism becuase Buddhism is basically the same as hinduism with gods and rituals etc... SO when there were Hindu's in India that were basically following the same religion, the BUddhists switched religions
To end suffering follow the eight fold pattern
To overcome desires and attain the eightfold path, middle way of self denial and desires. People can master one step at a time and to complete the entire thing takes a few lifetimes.
Stupas
\Sacred mounds that contain relics of the buddha Buddhist shrines Pilgrims would circle around it and they would pay tribute to the buddha. They could cricle around it in a clockwise direction, lie face down or leave flowers.
What is a Bodhisattva?
a person who is able to reach nirvana but delays doing so out of compassion in order to save suffering beings. They are like gods with lots of power
