P-E-R-S-O-N defines the basic human physiological needs: Psychosocial: Describes a person's psychological development in the context of one's social environment. Excretion: Elimination of metabolic wastes Rest & Activity: Human need for sleep and movement Safe Environment: Basic needs for safety to live Oxygen: The need for breathable air and to breath in Oxygen for life Nutrition: Obtained from food and used by our bodies for growth and maintaining good health. Since these are pretty basic physiological needs if one or more of these are unmet illness or disease may become present.

Describe the "Basic Human Needs Model" and its relationship to CCM's organizing framework

The Basic Human Needs Model occurs through the use of the acronym P-E-R-S-O-N. It serves to treat the patient on a holistic level considering their physical, emotional, social, spiritual, intellectual, and cultural stresses and their impact on the whole patient. Illness may develop when a Basic Human Need is unmet.

Explain the Philosophy of the CCM Nursing Program

The CCM Nursing Program philosophy focuses on the person, the patient, The nurse, the faculty and the student. With regards the the person the philosophy recognizes that each person evolves differently based on their values, beliefs, and motives which impact their daily life. It recognizes that each persons health is formed upon their physiological, physical, spiritual, environment and cultural aspects of their life. The second focus in the CCM nursing philosophy is Health, as well as the patients basic needs and rights. It recognizes that each person moves along a wellness-illness continuum in search of meeting their basic needs. When these needs are not met the person utilizes the health care system. Nursing is meant to assist individuals via diagnostic and treatment aspects on the path of the wellness-illness continuum using critical thinking based on the patients needs. CCM's philosophy regarding the Faculty and Student is that the faculty has come up with avenues for each different type of learner/ student to succeed in this program as well as make changes to the curriculum as technology and research progress. It also describes the students responsibility to be an active learner and participate in the carefully planned curriculum. It is CCM's goal to produce competent, well rounded, responsible and caring nurses who are educated in the community.

The range of a persons total health. It's ever-changing and influenced by a person's physical, mental, and social well-being. Each individual moves through it and possesses various strengths and limitations that affect ability to meet needs

Define the Nursing Process.

a critical thinking process that professional nurses use to apply the best available evidence to caregiving and promoting human functions and responses to health and illness. It is the fundamental blueprint for how to care for patients. It is also a standard of practice, which, when followed correctly protects nurses against legal problems related to nursing care.
