Certification
A credential from a professional organization that shows that a health care worker meets the requirements set by the certifying organization to demonstrate the mastery of a job
CEUs
Continuing Education Units: required to renew licences or maintain certification in many states. Ex: many states require nurses to obtain 24-48 CEUs every 1-2 years.
Accreditation
Ensures that the program of study meets the established standards and qualifies graduates for professional practice.
Registration
Professional designation indicating that a professional has graduated from an accredited school and passed a standardized national exam; names of those who passed appear on the national registry.
Licensure
The granting of a license to a health care professional who has met the fundamental standards for performing a job, as required by state.
