Chapter 1- The Speech & Communication Process: Public Speaking
Channel
The means by which the message is conveyed. Speaking directly, radio, television, internet postings, or messaging.
Feedback
The messages, usually nonverbal, sent from the listerner to the speaker.
Listener
The person who recieves the speaker's message. Everything the speaker says is filterd through the listener's frame of reference.
Interference
Anything that impedes communication between the speaker and listener.
The Seven Elements
Speaker, Message, Channel, Feedback, Interference, Listener, & Situation
Message
Whatever a speaker communicates to someone else.
Speaker
Your success depends on your personal credibility, knowledge of subjects, preparation of speeches, manner of speaking, sensitivity to the audience and occasion, and enthusiam.
