-strengths: =As the attributes within the organization =As the attributes of the intervention/ communication campaign -weakness =Gaps within the organization = weakness of the actual intervention

What are the components of a logic model? (2 Main and each)

1. Planned work =Resources/inputs (to accomplish =activities/outputs) =Activities(media products, channels, modes of delivery) 2. Intended results =Outputs(receipt of activities by various users) =Outcomes(theory-based communication strategies to help adopt healthier behaviors) =Impact(action sought)

What are impacts?

Generally measured in terms of population-level health or socioeconomic improvements =Reflected in reductions in age-specific mortality rates, prevalence of disease, and disease-specific mortality rates =Population measures of quality of life would improve

What are outcomes?

Immediate, intermediate, and long-term ranges -Example for mass media includes =Next-day recall of message =Aw a r e n e s s o f i s s u e =Change in attitude or motivation to try something Assessed through survey research =Interactive media allow recipients to respond immediately =Intermediate outcomes include changes in individual behaviors, in stages =Long-term outcomes include permanent changes

What are outputs?

Measures whether activities were delivered as planned Some examples =For mass media: If planned to deliver 10,000 student workbooks, how many students actually received them? =For patients: How many health facilities, practices, or providers have agreed to use the patient decision aids? =For outreach: How many public appearances, speaking engagements, or health fairs? =For intermediaries: How many workshops were implemented?

What are resources/inputs?

Range from tangible to more intangible items =Money, paid staff or volunteer hours, facilities, and equipment =Expertise, data, or the involvement of collaborators at the local, state, national or global level Each may play a part in contributing resources

What does strength and weakness affects? What does opportunities and threats affect? Ethnics?

- S/W: Most likely to affect program's inputs (within control) O/T: Affect achievement of planned outputs, or outcomes (outside your control) - E: How program/ organization can conduct the intervention in the most ethical manner (reside inside your organization)

What is logic model?

-It is how an organization does its work (theory and assumptions underlying their program. -A logic model should be seen as a "big picture" of the program for use by colleagues, stakeholders, and partners.

What are opportunities and threats?

-Opportunities: =Positive factors related to time and place =Partners/stakeholders provide critical insights -Threats =Factors that could delay or prevent achieving your program objectives =Opportunities, if turned around, can be threats

What is Deontological principles?

-Requires following rules and principles with the notion that one should "Stick to honorable principles, and the outcomes will take care of itself" =Creating programs that are based on need not privilege

What are the components of SWOTE? And what does each component measure?

-Strengths and weaknesses refer to conditions that are within your control -Opportunities and threats are outside of your control -Ethical considerations may reside inside your organization -Assess if program could harm, limit rights, or not deliver promise =Best conducted with those you see as partners or stakeholders in the health communication intervention

What are the components of a total budget?

-Sum of direct and indirect costs, including in-kind contributions and additional donations -Annual budget and budget for total time period -Sometimes need to separate out and track funding streams

What is bioethnics and what are the 5 reasons?

Bioethics:A branch of ethics, philosophy, and social commentary that discusses the life sciences and their potential impact on our society 1. Avoid doing harm through the actions of trying to help 2.Doing utmost to better health of intended populations 3.Respect for the freedom of every person and community 4.Ensuring adherence to justice, equity and fairness in the distribution of resources 5.Maximizing the greatest utility from the public health promotion efforts, especially when resources are limited and publically funded.
