Some of you may remember when your Instagram feed was shown to you in chronological order. For businesses, these were good days as that viewing format greatly increased the likelihood of users seeing their content. The problem with a chronological feed, however, is that the more accounts you follow, the more cluttered your feed gets and you might miss important content because you didn't scroll back far enough. An Instagram feed based off of relevance means that you see more of the content you engage with (like, comment, share) on a regular basis. This is Instagram's way of predicting the

Instagram added 15-second video sharing in June 2013. Remember, Facebook had purchased Instagram for $1 billion, so this was viewed as Facebook's attempt at competing with then-popular video-sharing application Vine.

Instagram needed a way to start earning money in order to generate a profit for its parent company (Facebook). In 2013, Instagram turned to photo ads, and to video ads in 2014. These changes allowed businesses to pay Instagram money to place images and videos in front of the users that they wanted to target. Essentially, 'sponsored' content on Instagram are posts that have been turned into ads to reach more viewers.

Here's an example of a brand understanding the value of Instagram ads. Monthly book subscription service Read Dog Books used Instagram Stories to connect with its audience while running a single advertising campaign on Instagram and Facebook to encourage people to subscribe. An advertising campaign is a collection of advertisements trying to accomplish the same goal.

It's good practice for brands to keep a consistent theme throughout their Instagram posts. Brands can do this by using the same image and video filters across their content. Such consistency allows audience members to better recognize brands in their feeds

Who bought Instagram

Posting visually appealing content is important on Instagram, but it's not everything. The captions you use with your photos and videos provide an excellent way for your business to show off your brand's personality. Hootsuite created an excellent guide to help with writing great Instagram captions.

story ads
these ads appear between people's stories. Here are the two ad formats for Story Ads: Single Image: With this format, you can create up to six ads with one unique image each. It looks just like a normal Instagram story with a tiny "Sponsored" at the bottom. Single Video: With this format, you can upload a video or GIF of up to 15 seconds.
A great way to have a never-ending supply of content to share is getting your Instagram community to create posts featuring your brand. Such posts and other content created and shared by customers is called user-generated content. Community members may engage in the creation of user-generated content by using company hashtags or tagging your company in their own photos and videos. Remember to always give photo / video credit to the rightful owners of the content. Not only does UGC supply you with a stream of content, but you build brand loyalty and raving fans by featuring their content on your company channel. You know what I'm talking about if you've had a brand share one of your photos on its feed.
