Forces you to pay attention, you sort out the information being presented, your ability to remember improves, and you become an active learner.

It shows you whether you really comprehend what you heard or read.

Describe techniques for taking notes in class

Prepare for taking notes by identifying the instructor's and your own goals for the course, completing all assignments before arriving in class, and "warming up" for class by reviewing the notes and assignments from the previous class.

Explain methods for effective notetaking

Taking good study notes from written materials involves many of the principles that apply to taking good notes from oral presentations, although the source material can be consulted repeatedly, making it easier to get the information down accurately.
