Quakers (Society of Friends

Founded by George Fox, this sect of Christianity believes in the inner light within us all, do not practice rituals, and was one of the first groups to oppose sexism, racism, warfare, religious tolerance, and the death penalty

Anglican Church

Founded by Henry VIII over the issue of papal supremacy. Church of England.

Methodist

Founded by John Wesley, the reject the doctrine of predestination, focus on two sacraments, and follow the "method" of Christianity set forth by their founders

Christian Science

Founded by Mary Baker Eddy in 1879, this denomination denies the existence of the trinity, believes that death is an illusion, and believes that the power of Jesus' teaching and prayer to solve all of the world's physical problems in including health, relationship and global issues

Jehovah's Witness

Known for door-to-door witnessing and disturbing literature (Watchtower), this American sect of Christianity focuses on the end of time (144,000 will be saved), believe that Jesus died on a stake, and do not normally participate in government

Coptic Church

One of the oldest Christian denominations (founded by St. Mark), the are responsible for the Nicene Creed and several 'basic' Christian beliefs, such as the sinlessness of Jesus, divinity of Christ, ect.

Anabaptist

Originating in Switzerland during the Reformation, this group believes in adult baptism and separating themselves from the world- live simply and off the grid.

Eastern Orthodox

Separated from the Roman Catholic Church in 1054, this church has icons, a 'divine liturgy' and is often connected with a 'national' church since they are against the separation of church and state.

Roman Catholicism

The largest denomination within Christianity, they trace their lineage to the first Bishop of Rome (Peter) and teach that God placed his church on earth to save mankind. Important concepts center on Purgatory and the Seven Sacraments
