Sticking to your guns and trying to be the best version of yourself no matter the situation

There are things like Skype and phone calls, and while I am a little nervous about being far from home, I know its whats best for me. Besides, I'll need to get used to it if I'll be working for Disney long term.

What if someone asked why the fur characters don't talk? (Attendant)

They are saving their voices for the parade later on!

Discuss a magical moment you personally had within the parks. (Basic)

Very recently I went to Disneyland in Anaheim with one of my best friends. It was her first time going so I wanted to make it extra special. I decided to take her on the Mark twain to meet her favorite character, Tiana. However, when we got on the boat we found out Tiana wasn't going to be on our ride. So instead we went to the top of the ship to relax and just view the sites. That's when one of the drivers came up to us and invited us to drive the boat, which in all my 19 years of going to Disney I had never done before. We had so much fun and once our ride was over, the driver had made sure Tiana was waiting on the second level to personally thank us for driving the boat along with taking a picture with my friend. My friend was so ecstatic to have been able to have such a magical experience and we're planning our next trip together very soon.

How would you handle a displeased guest? (Work)

When handling a displeased guest, the first thing you need to do is make sure you understand why they're displeased. From there, you can then know how to help them and resolve their problem so they can enjoy the rest of their magical day.

What is your definition of success? (Extra)

When my life and the things I do better the people around me.

How do you feel about working "backstage" with minimal guest contact? (Costuming)

While I do thrive in guest services, I am also capable of being backstage with little guest interaction.

Tell me about a time you had to deal with a difficult guest, co-worker, or manager.

While covering a shift in the bakery at Sprouts grocery I along with a co-worker of mine were in charge of dish washing. My co-worker did not want to help so knowing the job had to get done, I took the initiative to get it done by myself. That way the dishes wouldn't be left for the next person who was coming in for their shift and be behind.

Name a time when you went out of your way to make a guest feel special. (Work)

While volunteering at our local Fair and Expo, I worked at the water tattoo booth for kids. I remember these two little girls running up to me wanting to get matching tattoos. One was super excited while the other was very nervous. The one that was nervous was very young and afraid the water tattoo was going to hurt. I reassured her by letting her pick out a water tattoo she wanted to put on me instead. That immediately opened her up and once she gave me a water tattoo and saw how happy it made me, she became excited and let me put one on her. I showed her by example that things don't have to be as scary as you make them believe. They can actually be quite fun.

Can you tell me about a time that you were a team player? (Work)

While working as 1 of 2 assistant stage managers at my college theater company, I constantly had to check in with my co-assistant stage manager, the actors, the director, and the head stage manager about what props we needed, where they had to be set, what scenes they were in, etc.

How would you resolve potential conflicts? (Basic)

With roommate disagreements, compromise and having an open mind help a lot. I will make sure to listen to what my roommate has to say and think with a "we" attitude, not a "me" attitude.

Are you comfortable being the first cast member that a guest interacts with on their vacation? (Greeter)

Yes! I'd love to be a guests first warm welcome as they start off their day at the happiest place on earth!

Yes, I used to do acting in high school so I'm used to memorizing 'lines'.

Yes, I've been doing my own laundry since I was 13.

Yes, I've had to lift things heavier than a suitcase before.

Yes, in 3 years of high school I was apart of our media program where I'd operate the cameras for the campus news report as well as film our school lip dubs.

Yes. From my previous jobs I have experience in dealing and organizing large crowds of both kids and adults.

Are you willing and able to carry heavy costumes to different locations? (Costuming)

Yes. I used to do shipment load shifts at a previous job where I'd lift furniture as heavy as 50 pounds.

Describe a situation where I've had to work with a difficult person, boss or professor. (Extra)

- @ Sprouts Grocery - customer wanted creamer for x-mas recipe 2 days before - we didn't have creamer - I looked at recipe bc I'm familiar with baking - found substitute and customer was very happy

Why do you want to be a Character Attendant? (Attendant)

- A character attendant to me is almost the same as being the character. - Waiting with the families and getting to hear their stories about how meeting this character is their dream come true is a dream come true for myself. - Knowing I get to help achieve someone else's dream while living my dream is amazing.

Why do you want to do the Disney College Program? (Basic)

- Always been a dream of mine - Meet new people - Develop professional skills - Create magical experiences for guests of all ages

How would you handle a guest who doesn't speak English but needs help? (Work)

- Direct them to guest services or try to find a cast member who could help. - If they can not understand me trying to direct them to guest services I would find a park map and draw it out for them.

What are your past job experiences and how do they relate to the roles you chose? (Role)

- Every job I've had consisted of a strong foundation built on good customer service. Before I was old enough to work I volunteered a lot at places such as our local zoo, the Dream Foundation, and our local Fair when it comes to town. One of my favorite past jobs I had was working in the arcade at our local bowling alley. I got my first taste of working with children in a fast paced environment and I loved it. I also loved it there because the whole arcade team were hard workers and very kind people. It made my job not only easier, but happier.

How would you answer a guests' question of 'how is __ in two parks at once'? (Attendant)

- They use tinker bell's dust to move between parks. - It's Disney magic!

How would you deal with repetitive work days? (Work)

- Try to invent a way of accomplishing it in a different way each time. - Keep myself entertained and not letting the guests know I've been doing the same thing all day. EX: If I was in charge of lining people up on carpet numbers for Aladdin's magic carpet ride over and over I would count how many times in day I can get an exact even number and try to beat yesterday's score or have a trivia question for the day regarding the task I was doing and see how many guests can answer it.

1. I tend to get to focused on the task at hand sometimes, but I've earned I just need to take a step back and go back into it with a clearer mindset. 2. I tend to be too hard on myself (I try to find the problem and make sure to not make the same mistake in the future) 3. I'm such a social butterfly sometimes I'll talk a little too much (hence the last name Speake) but I almost always make sure to catch myself before becoming too distracted.

What are your strengths? (Work)

1. Love interacting and getting to know new people 2. I'm a fast learner 3. Staying resilient

How would you handle an emergency? (Work)

1.) Stay calm in the face of an emergency. 2.) Call for help immediately. 3.) Make sure guests and myself are safe. - It all depends on the situation and being able to think quick on your feet and stay calm. EX: I remember a situation in particular where my friends and I were in a really bad car accident and the driver was unable to do anything due to shock. I was able to make sure nobody was hurt after calling 911 first. After I knew it was safe to get everyone out of the car, I did so immediately.

You will have to be able to pin trade with customers, will you be comfortable with children touching your lanyard and asking to trade? (Extra)

Absolutely. I pin trade myself ad am excited to keep the tradition going.

How will the college program help you professionally? (Basic)

As a theatre major the program helps me by putting me in a work environment where I am constantly putting on a performance to create magic.

Tell about favorite movie, character, etc. (Basic)

Belle - I have a need to learn new things and seek out adventure. I don't get bothered when people say negative things about me or think i'm odd because I am odd. I tend to not judge people by my first encounter with them and I look deeper to who they actually are.

Have you ever been to Disney World/Disneyland? Did you like it and why? (Basic)

Disneyland - absolutely Disney World - I went to WDW once, but I loved it! I only went to Epcot, Magic Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios. I've never been to animal kingdom, but I've heard a lot of great things about it.

How do you feel about working/living states away from home? (Basic)

Don't get me wrong, I would definitely miss my family and my kitties at home, but I would be working at the happiest place on earth and building new friendships and skills. Being away from home is part of a college experience anyway.

How would you interact with guests? How would you make their day? (Work)

Every good thing starts with a smile so I would start by smiling and then asking how their day is going while making sure to pay attention to things like first time buttons and birthday buttons.

What does team work mean to you? (Work)

Good team work is based on a strong foundation of communication. If you don't know the answer to a question, it's important to ask for help when needed and not just assume.

What can you offer the company? (Basic)

Great leadership skills, a hard work ethic, and extensive customer service skills is just a few of many things I can offer the company.

What do you think the worst aspect of DCP housing would be and why? (Extra)

Having friends or family come down and not being able to give them a place to stay and visit. But I understand that rules are in set for a reason.

What makes you stand out from other candidates/why should you be accepted? (Basic)

I bring a positive attitude, a great work ethic, and a constant need to learn. These three things paired with my dream to work for Disney makes me a great candidate for the DCP.

As a guest, what do you expect when you arrive to any Disney Resort? (Extra)

I expect a magical welcome with happy faces from everyone. I expect a smooth check in and being helped by cast members who truly enjoy their job.

How do you feel about operating a ride? (Attractions)

I feel pretty confident in my ability to learn how to operate a ride. While you may not be working closely with the guests, I still believe it's important to keep a kind and courteous attitude so your focus can be sharper and more alert.

How do you feel speaking in front of large groups? (Attractions)

I feel very comfortable, I'm a theatre major with a leadership minor so if i'm not comfortable by now then there might be a problem.

How do you feel about achieving monthly sales goals and suggesting products? (Photo Pass)

I had to do that at a previous job when I worked retail so I'm used to it. I was actually top sales associate for 3 months running.

Would you rather work independently or in a group setting? (Work)

I honestly would thrive in either. I'm very good at time-managing myself and I believe that's the first step in being a great team player.

Would you rather work in a slow or fast-paced environment? (Work)

I like a fast paced environment because it keeps me on track and focused. I'm used to working under pressure and to make deadlines.

How do you feel about a guest refusing a picture? (Photo Pass)

I understand rejection is a part of the job, however I would do my best to encourage them to capture their magical memories.

What would you tell guests if you had to turn them away because a line was closed for the day? (Attendant)

I would apologize and give them options as to where other characters are or when this character was going to come back out. Mickey has to go take pluto for a walk Daisy has to go get ready for her date with Donald Cinderella has to go get ready for the ball Elsa has to go help Olaf, he lost his flurry again.

What would you do if a child is being rough with a character? (Attendant)

I would ask them to kindly stop and if they did not stop or parents did not step in, I would try to contact security and get the character and myself out of harms way.

What would you do if a guest wanted to get on an attraction but it was out of service? (Attractions)

I would explain to them that the ride would be temporarily out of service then offer other rides nearby that are open. I'd also let them know about Disney's mobile app they can use to check when the ride will be up and running again.

What would you do if a child was afraid of a character? (Attendant)

I would tell them that when I was their age I met (the character) for the first time and I was really really scared but then (the character) gave me the biggest hug and I could tell we were going to be best friends and then I wasn't scared anymore.

Why do you want to work attractions? (Attractions)

I would want to work attractions because each attraction has a spiel and character that you go into in order to preserve the magic for the guest. Instead of looking at it as an attraction, I can get the guests waiting in line to go into the world of Agraba or Wonderland depending on which attraction i'm at.

What would you do if a child wanted to ride Splash Mountain but was too short? (Attractions)

I'd explain to them that its not safe for them to journey through Briar Patch then offer other rides they would be tall enough to ride.

What are you most looking forward to? (Basic)

I'm most looking forward to going to sleep at night in my dorm and knowing that when I wake up I get to spend yet another day at Disney. I'm also looking forward to meeting everyone and experiencing the flip side of a place I've come to know very well.

Would you consider taking a role you put low/no interest in? (Role)

I'm open to them regarding picking up extra shifts if I needed to cover someone. But I would like to attain some of my top choices.

Have you ever lived with roommates? (Basic)

I've never lived with room mates before, but I'm very excited about it. I grew up as an only child so I was always lonely as a kid. But now going into my current program, I'll be able to have roommates to hang out with and bond over Disney with!

Which park or resort would you prefer to work? (Work)

If I were to go to Disneyland, CA I'd love to work in entertainment costuming since I've had experience with it in both high school and college or working in the attractions because I'm great in team based environments. If I were to go to WDW, FL I'd love to work as a character attendant because it's the closest thing I can do to being a character performer since I'm too tall to be a performer.

What would you do if you messed up a spiel? (Attractions)

Like any performance you are supposed to keep going. Generally, I'm pretty good at recovering my speech, but in the rare event I do misspeak I would keep going and make sure to not mess it up the next time.

No, I work them at home already so it wouldn't be any different to me.

Do you mind working outside in the Florida heat or inside in cold air conditioning? (Work)

Not at all. Air conditioning would be preferred, however I don't mind either.
