Three main parts of the CPU

An embedded system in a washing machine would be used to control the temperature, water-level or cycle speed/duration.

Give one reason why an embedded system is used

Because they are built on a single printed circuit board, so it is much easier to replace it if it breaks down.

Deals with arithmetic operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division

The CPU processes data. It does this by fetching instructions from memory (RAM), decoding then executing the instructions
