-The seas were stormy and dangerous -Travel through the mountains was hard -It was hard to walk on rocky and unpaved roads.

-They asked an oracle to ask the greek G-Ds if the colony would be successful -They gathered food and supplies and took a flame from their sacred fire so they could have fire in their land.
