HISTOTECHNICIAN INTERVIEW QUESTIONS
Where do you see yourself in 5-10 years?
-certified Histotechnologist -enough experience to become a PathA -possibly explore field of clinical laboratory scientist
Why do you want to be trained as a histotechnician?
-combine my interests of working in a laboratory setting with anatomic pathology -eventually want to become a certified histotechnologist and open to becoming a pathologist assistant in the future
Explain your experience relative to the position as well as equipment you have used or worked with in the laboratory.
-courses in anatomy, immunology, cell biology, etc. -anatomy lab: a bit with microscopes to view histology slides -molecular bio lab: micropipette, PCR, gel electrophoresis, centrifuge
What is your highest level of education?
I just graduated this past June from the University of California, Irvine with a Bachelor's of Science in Biological Sciences.
Why do you want to work for Fulgent?
I want to work for Fulgent because: -I've always had an interest in healthcare and wanted to explore other occupations that do not involve direct patient care but are still integral for clinicians and patients -specifically, I found the lab environment and testing to often be looked past -> many people don't understand how vital they are in making diagnoses -I want to be a part of a company that offers a wide range of these tests like Fulgent
Tell me how you organize, plan, and prioritize your work.
-determine which work has a sooner deadline or needs to most attention -work based on what needs to get done first
Tell me about a time you overcame a difficult situation.
-tbh nothing work related -I did used to think that majoring in Biology was not for me since I did not want to go the common more traditional occupation routes -eventually I reached out and sought resources and other people on the same boat as me an found a community of support -along the way I learned more about lab science
What are your strengths and weaknesses?
-strengths: detail-oriented, collaborative but also independent, determined -weaknesses: self-critical, perfectionist, public speaking
