Example of Positive Feedback

A good example of positive feedback is is blood clotting. Once a vessel is damaged, platelets start to cling to the injured site and release chemicals that attract more platelets. The platelets continue to pile up and release chemicals until a clot is formed.

Negative Feedback

A negative feedback control system responds when conditions change from the ideal or set point and returns conditions to this set point.

Positive Feedback

A positive feedback mechanism is the exact opposite of a negative feedback mechanism. With negative feedback, the output reduces the original effect of the stimulus. In a positive feedback system, the output enhances the original stimulus.

The sequence of Homeostasis.

First the Stimulus (rise in body temperature) then the Receptor (skin and brain sense change) next is Signal (command from brain) and finally Response (skin makes sweat and blood vessels dilate.

Definition of Homeostasis

Homeostasis is the ability of the body to maintain a stable internal environment despite a changing external environment.

Example of Negative Feedback

Human blood pressure - When blood pressure increases, signals are sent to the brain from the blood vessels. Signals are sent to the heart from the brain and heart rate slows down, thus helping blood pressure to return to normal.

Normal body temperature

Is 98.6 Fahrenheit

What does the body do to stay warm?

The body shivers

When your body is hot what does it do to stay cool?

The body sweats

What does homeostasis maintain in your body

The nervous and endocrine systems exert the ultimate control over homeostasis because they coordinate the functions of the body's systems. Regulation of body temperature, blood pressure, pH, and glucose concentration are four examples of how the body maintains homeostasis.

The 3 variables affected by Homeostasis are?

hemoglobin, Temperature and blood pressure.
