Internet Of Things (IoT)
Why IPv6?
IP address is used to uniquely identify objects. Various estimates suggests that by 2020 roughly about 20 to 50 billion objects will connect to the Internet. IPv4 cannot scale to these level due to limited address space, hence IPv6.
When and who coined the term "Internet of Things"?
In 1999 by Kevin Ashton
What is the major benefit of IoT?
IoT extends and connects physical space with the virtual space to give improved automation resulting in efficiency, accuracy and economic benefits.
Which area(s) in CS would have a major impact with IoT?
IoT is expected to generate large amounts of data from diverse locations which needs to be quickly aggregated i.e. the data needs to be indexed, stored and processed.
How are IoT objects controlled?
IoT objects can be controlled remotely via existing network infrastructure like Internet etc.
What is IoT?
a network of Physical objects embedded with electronics, software, Sensors, Actuators and Network connectivity. These objects Collect and Exchange data. (source: Wikipedia)
