how many hours?

what motivates you?

What drives or inspires me is knowing almost everything in life is mind over matter. Through my time at Kelley, and my professional and personal experience, I have the knowledge and intuition to achieve a lot---when and if I am persistent and disciplined. I developed a strong passion and interest in photography. I self-taught myself the ins and the outs of photography and photo development. Because of my persistence, I was able to establish my own photography business.

why SLU LAW?

reputations because of the development of trust and relationships that often follow suit. SLU Law has over 175 years worth of history that very clearly establishes its reputation today as a program enriched by integrity and success. Through my time at both St. Joseph's Academy and at the Kelley School of Business, I have actively sought out opportunities to immerse myself in a community bounded by diversity and by rigor. I am confident that SLU law is the obvious choice for finding that same group of highly motivated people during my legal studies. As I was born and raised here in St. Louis and in a Catholic family, I have witnessed the power of merging faith and learning. SLU's emphasis on its Jesuit roots assures me that our faith will bound us together and push us to grow as a community. I would be honored to walk the halls of Scott Hall and eventually represent SLU law as an alumnus in my St. Louis community.

slu law mission

to advance the understanding and development of law and prepare students to achieve professional success and personal satisfaction through leadership and service to others guided by the Jesuit tradition of academic excellence, freedom of inquiry and respect for individual differences. will challenge your intellect, develop your passion for the law and help you build lifelong connections with the greater legal community.

why should you get this scholarship?

I am applying to the DePaul University College of Law because while attending the Kelley School of Business, I learned that achieving academic excellence is not possible alone - it requires the support of a vibrant and diverse intellectual community. SLU Law harbors exactly this type of community through its culture of collaborative learning. Just as with my formal piano and dance training, my focus has always been on progress and on the process of improving myself and those around me. Growing up in St. Louis and having the intention of remaining in St. Louis post-graduation, I am enticed by the success of SLU law alumni. I am confident that, as an 1843 scholar, not only will I be a strong addition to the student body at SLU Law, but I will also represent the institution with professionalism and integrity well beyond my years on campus.

how do you manage stress?

I have learned the power of time-management from a young age as I consistently had to balance my educational commitments with my part-time employment and extracurriculars. Although a packed schedule can be daunting and overwhelming, in the end, it has demanded the most efficient use of my time because they are simply not enough hours in the day to get sidetracked. I handle stress by planning and prioritizing - my time and my commitments. Failing to plan is planning to fail and with a game plan and commitment, I am able to balance and complete tasks with the least amount of stress possible. I plan to carry this competency in my professional career as I will constantly be required to balance the needs of different clients with deadlines.

what is your biggest weakness?

I sometimes struggle with saying no. As I mentioned earlier, I am known for being a team player and going the extra mile whenever necessary which at times, adds a lot of stress to my plate. To improve this weakness, I have worked on setting realistic expectations for myself and utilizing a few project management apps so I am able to determine what exactly is on my plate at any given time.

what are your biggest strengths?

My integrity and composure in a professional environment. Half of the battle of working in the legal field is earning the trust of your clients and your colleagues. I feel strongly in my ability to connect with people of all backgrounds and develop productive working relationships. Overall, my experience in the service industry, as a waitress, department assistant, and a tax intern has allowed me to have a keen ability to read people and anticipate what they need before they even realize they need it. I am confident that my professionalism and composure in business settings will carry my ability to develop relationships and trust with clients to ensure the most successful outcomes for all sides. My experience thus far has been extremely client focused and has demanded adaptability, assurance, and overall class and has prepared me for my future endeavors in the legal world.
