Why do we have badges?

For identification purposes. Badges allow us to differ when one of our members in talking with a stranger they shouldn't be. They also display our department that we operate on.

What have we done to promote LGBTQ+ inclusivity?

Our members advocated for LGBTQ+ by discussing with our school administration about name-changing, and rooming/boarding policies. Each year, we send an ambassador group of our students to meet with Becker's GSA in asking how we can be more inclusive. Since then, we've implemented optional pronoun pins, and we list pronouns in our website. We also now gave an LGBTQ+ education presentation at the beginning of our season during a large group meeting, which we desire to continue annually.

In 2022, what did we do with the Becker Chamber of Commerce?

This year, we packed Easter eggs and hid them, as well as creating an obstacle course for a town-wide Easter event. In the meanwhile, we showcased our robot to the young children attending the event!

What is the purpose of the portable robotics kit? Have you shared the kits?

To lend to other teams to ensure they have the resources to properly host a Coding for Cookies session. We have shared our kits with 7028, Binary Battalion, and they have hosted 2 sessions with them so far.

Why is Coding for Cookies important?

Typically, Girl Scout troops don't have immediate access to resources required to attain a robotics badge. Coding for Cookies creates a two way road of benefit: we lead, and they learn! The project targets young girls and women, who are underrepresented in STEM, through hosting K-12 Girl Scouts in our facilities, allowing them a hands-on opportunity to familiarize themselves with robotics.

What is a way we engage our sponsors, as well as appreciate their support for us?

We advertise their content to different levels depending on how much money they donate to us, we send them biweekly newsletters, and we have luncheons to get tours of their facilities and showcase our robot.

What is so special about Coding for Cookies? (Hint hint, expansion!)

We are expanding this initiative to other teams through our packouts, so it reaches more troops from all over the state! We have worked with more than 100 Girl Scouts, and we've compiled a binder with tips and instructions on how to use the resources we send in the kit, as well as how to find troops near you!

How many members have we gained from Coding for Cookies so far?

We gained 2 member from a session with Highschoolers! She is now on our impact department!

What are ways we promote leadership on 4607?

We have a leadership structure in which students can apply to lead departments, students coordinate events whether they are new or returning, and students present their progress to other departments while communicating actively with them similar to a business in working together. Students also set deadlines for their departments.

What have we done to give equal opportunity to hear the voices of ALL 4607 members?

We have recently included the entire team in large decisions rather than just the leadership team, regarding goal setting, SWOT (Strengths Weaknesses Opportunities Threats), and core values.

What is the Veterans Day Breakfast?

We host a free breakfast for Veterans in our surrounding community on Veterans Day!

How does 4607 prioritize mental health?

We presented at Kickoff and JUMPSTART on prioritizing mental health. We hold compulsory study periods three days a week to allow students to focus on other priorities such as school, or just give them a break. We also give a mental health presentation to our team each year.

In 2022, What did we do with Faith in Action?

We raked leaves for an elderly woman surrounding her home.

What have we done with, and to mentor team 8516 WiredUp?

We showcased FIRST at the PACK EXPO together, which was attended by only 6 teams around the nation. Since then, we have mentored them right after Kickoff with strategy sessions, and during the build season mentor them on topics such as programming, design, impact and strategy.

In 2022, What did we do with Beyond the Yellow Ribbon? What famous figure did we connect with during this?

We taught military youth of our community how to play sports and practice healthy exercise habits. We worked with Dr. Leo Lewis, a former NFL player. His sports foundation teamed up with Beyond the Yellow Ribbon to host this!

What do we teach the Girl Scouts in Coding for Cookies?

We teach them how to code an FLL robot, drive an FTC robot, and learn about the mechanics of an FRC robot! By exposing them to all of FIRST, we engage their interest and connect them with a FIRST team near them per request.

Between 2022-2024, what have we done with Becker Backpack Buddies?

We worked with them to pack more than 1,000 meals for low-income families of Becker.

Since 2022, what did we do for our for our local Lions clubs?

We've built park benches for them, designed and created plaques for the benches, and helped with local events they hold.

What is Coding for Cookies?

A new initiative that has worked with more than 100 Girl Scouts, allowing them to earn their Robotics badges.

Failure Modes and Effects Analysis tracks our failures to avoid repeating problems through multiple departments. We present this at JUMPSTART and Kickoff as it is one of our team's KEY STRENGTHS.

What have we done to help our environment?

Last year, we started collecting our cans and recycling them through Becker's 5th graders to support their recycling project! We also adopted a 2-mile stretch of road in the Sherburne Wildlife Refuge.

How are we student-ran yet mentor-based?

Mentors are valuable members of our team that give us knowledge, resources, and support to run our team. Our team members make all of our core decisions which what sets us aside from everyone else. Students also run all of our meetings between large group meetings and leadership meetings.

How did we help the 8887 Knights at 2022 GNR?

They came in with a robot that couldn't even compete and we helped them build their robot to where they won the rookie inspiration award and highest rookie seed award.

What was unique about our role in JUMPSTART this past year?

Since we no longer could afford St. Cloud State University's space, we moved JUMPSTART into our own High school.

Who did we lend our swerve drive train to?

The 2052 KnightKrawlers. They proceeded to win their first regional of 2022 with it.

What does C.I.S. Stand for?

The Coalition of Independent Students, a reference to Star Wars.
