Coined by British news stations to show how crazy Beatle fans were at the performance Capital Records was reluctant to release the Beatles in the U.S because they were sure that they would fail. This was because no British artist ever had much success overseas. The Beatles original 3 British hits were released by indie producers ("love me do","Please Please Me", "From Me To You") in the U.S but they saw little success on the charts. Once the beatles started touring in the US they almost never had breaks on the road.

Originally, the Monkees were cast as actors that could play instruments. This was an important differentiation between them and other Music Television Bands because many of those bands could not actually play instruments and it wasn't hard to tell.
