Physical act. in afternoon so learners retain material presented. Plan mornings around theoretical info tht requires more mental concentration. Avoid scheduling reading/ videos right after lunch. Keep learners energized for remainder of the day

Position ur self on the far side of the room from this learner to send a "quiet" msg tht the constant attention-seeking is not rewarded. Avoiding direct eye contact with this learner will send a similar msg

Powerful means of controlling misbehavior is to physically move twd the learner who is in violation of the standards.

Conferences

Private time between adulatory & learner giving both parties the opp. to discuss probs. & potential solutions. Educators must carefully prep for such occasion to be successful

"Break" the break schedule

Rather than 15 min break break that into smaller increments, doing so helps retain learner interest bc students can only focus for so long b4 their minds wander. Also allows only enuf time to take care of necessities ( restroom breaks, stretching); prevents learners from engaging in other acts. / convos tht may keep me from returning to class on time

High profile intervention

Requires mor force / time /effort on part of educator. There are occasions when it's necessary to be very direct & assertive when dealing with chronic misconduct

Restore alertness. Ex: designate them as ur "hand-out control officers" or use them to record info on flip charts or post it charts

Stopping ur delivery for even a few secs, during ur pause, focus ur eye contact on those involved

Engage the energizer

Stretch breaks/energizer can be used to vary the stimuli of learners & keep learners from nodding off. Can incorporate into presentations w.o breaking flow of material.

Challenge of this behavior can sabotage leadership in the classroom & lesson steered off charted course

Students who always adds personal comments or comments relating to presentation and takes their time to get to the point just to hear themselves speak can cause this

Tickler & teasers

Suspense ( baggy of goodies on desk, no label), naturally students will wonder wats in the bag n grow interest. Use as reason for students to come back from break on time. Tell them revealing of bag will be done after break and whoever returns will receive a prize

Verbal desists

Technique involves use of verbal cue/ command to stop the behavior. Can take on many forms, from simply saying learners name ➡️ a complex command indicating precisely which behavior is to stop

Humor technique to keep learners attentive

Tend to lower the learners resistance to the objective of the lesson. Use to show how something should not be done as opposed to demonstrating the proper procedure

Low profile intervention

This method uses least amt of force necessary to deter/control misbehavior. Minimal force is associated w/ minimal time / effort

Primary purpose of employing control procedures

To achieve immediate cessation of misbehavior by learners in classroom

Purpose of conferences

To bring out change, but not intimidate / control. Be focused on violations of rules rather than character of learner. Learner should understand how the conduct is a personal hindrance as well as hindrance to other learners.

When setting guidelines for class, establish tht handouts & other relevant materials will be made available to the learner during break/ lunch/ end of class. Let me know they're to take a set & tht learning for other students is not to be interrupted

When u believe students will live up to their word of verbal agreements, it's appropriate to remind them of this
