An EEG watches brain waves so it is done before and after electroconvulsive therapy to identify effectiveness. If seizures are suspected an EEG will be performed to watch the brain waves and for seizure activity. A head trauma is an indication for an EEG. EEGs can look at brain waves and detect, for example, neurological disorders like epilepsy.
