What is required for the cell to complete any process?

ATP (adenosine triphosphate) is the cellular energy needed for the cell to function. ATP has three bonds between each phosphate. When the bond between the second and third phosphate is broken, energy is released for the cell to use. ATP is then converted to ADP, which has less stored energy due to the molecule having only two bonds between phosphate groups now. When a phosphate group is added to ADP it is converted back to a higher energy molecule of ATP.

How does anaerobic cellular respiration differ from aerobic cellular respiration?

Aerobic = requires oxygen. Anaerobic = does not require oxygen. Anaerobic cellular respiration is also called fermentation. Alcoholic fermentation occurs with bacteria and yeast organisms. It produces ethyl alcohol and only a small amount of ATP. Lactic acid fermentation occurs in muscle cells of animals and produces lactic acid (causes muscle soreness) and only a small amount of ATP.
