Hypoglossal nerve (XII)

controls movement of the tongue

serves heart, liver, digestive tract

spinal nerve that carries motor commands away from the CNS, all myelinated in the adult

Afferent

spinal nerve that carries sensory info to the CNS, contain both myelinated and unmyelinated fibres

somatic nervous system

the peripheral nervous system division that brings sensory input to the brain and spinal cord and returns commands to the muscles
