Antibiotic Absorption of the oral solution levofloxacin is enhanced when the stomach is empty, and it should be taken one hour before meals or two hours after meals. Tablets can be taken without regard to food. Food in the stomach will interfere with absorption. If the medication is taken just before a meal, food in the stomach shortly afterward will interfere with absorption.
