Science Unit 1 (Discovering Cells Lesson)
5 levels of organization human body and definition of each of the levels
1. Cell - basic unit of structure and function in living things 2. Tissue - a group of similar cells that work together to perform a specific function 3. Organ - different kinds of tissues that function together 4. Organ system - a group of organs that work together to perform a major function 5. Organism - a form of life/an individual animal, plant, or single-celled life form
Difference between unicellular and multicellular organisms and an example of each
Multicellular organisms are made of many cells while unicellular organisms are made of a single, or one cell. Examples of a multicellular organism are humans and animals. Examples of an unicellular organisms are amoeba and diatoms/many protists.
How specialized cells share a division of labor and what types of organisms they are found in
They are found in multicellular organisms and different cells have different functions/jobs
3 statements that make up The Cell Theory
• All living things are composed of cells. • Cells are the basic unit of structure and function in living things. • All cells are produced from other cells.
