Observe and Gather Data

Fifth Step in the Scientific Method Record what you notice from the experiment and organize your data. What happened during your experiment? Give clear observations of what you see. Especially about how the variable changed the result of the experiment. Note the changes in appearance, smell or what you heard. Five senses are to be used see, smell, touch, taste (not always safe) and feel.

Question

First Step in the Scientific Method Identify the problem or what you are curious about and ask a question. How, What, When, Who, Which, Why or Where?

Experiment

Fourth Step in the Scientific Method Design an experiment and test your hypothesis. List every step or procedure you did or used to complete your testing. To be fair in testing, you may change only one factor at a time (the variable) while keeping all other conditions the same.

Research

Second Step in the Scientific Method Use your prior knowledge and find more information about the topic. What kind of information or data do you know about this experiment or what did you learn about this experiment before you actually did it.

Analyze Data and Draw Conclusions

Sixth Step in the Scientific Method Write a conclusion explaining what you learned from the experiment. Did you prove your hypothesis correct or not? In this step you must give either evidence or an observation that shows that your hypothesis was correct or incorrect. If your experiment failed, why?? Specifically say what your learned.

Form an Hypothesis

Third Step in the Scientific Method Use your information to make an educated guess. Don't just guess. Use your research/education and thinking to decide what is a possible result or outcome. If I do "this" then "this" will happen

Communication

To complete your experiment you will need to share your results with others on a display board. Professional scientists publish their final reports in a scientific journal or present their results on a display board at a scientific meeting.
