Mr. Maloney tells Mrs. Maloney that he wants a divorce with her judging by her reaction and how much she loves him. and Most likely Mr. Maloney told his wife that he wants to break up. I can infer that because he said this may be a bad time to say this, and she was pregnant. Also she was so heart broken that she killed him.
Even though we are never explicitly told what Mr. Maloney tells his wife that causes her to kill him, we can infer based on the limited information we are given. What news does Mr. Maloney tell Mrs. Maloney in this passage? (will be provided on test)
He calls the story poison because of 2 reasons. One of them is to keep the audience suspenseful, waiting for the "poison" to kill him, the second reason is what he means by poison. He means the things the the man said at the end, the racist things, that is the poison.
If there was never really any krait throughout the whole story, why does Dahl title the story "Poison?" What is the real poison? The racist comments.
He asks about the sky and the grass.

The police only stayed at her house because they really needed to find the weapon and they suspected that it would most likely be at her house. But little did they know they were eating the weapon when Mrs. Maloney fed them the lamb.
How is the investigation of the Maloney home by the police an example of situational irony?
Lamb to the slaughter normally means an innocent thing (a lamb) gets slaughtered but in this case the lamb is doing the slaughtering.
How is the short story's title ironic? lamb slaughter

The climax of poison is when they lift up the sheet and there was no snake there. The puzzling thing about this is that there was no snake, the whole suspense of the story was that the snake could kill him at any moment but really there was never a snake.
