Systemic circuit

(high pressure-2-120mmHg) carries blood between the heart and the rest of the body

Pulmonary circuit

(low pressure- 2-25mmHg) carries blood to the lungs for gas exchange and returns it to the heart

What does the right atrium do?

Receives deoxygenated blood from body (receives blood from systemic circuit)

What does the right ventricle do?

pumps oxygen poor blood to the lungs, (pumps blood to pulmonary circuit)

What does the left ventricle do?

pumps oxygen-rich blood to the body (pumps blood to systemic circuit)

What does the left atrium do?

receives oxygenated blood from the lungs (receives blood from pulmonary circuit)
