The use of "all of the above. Answer choices are not similar in length. Implausible answer choices
What is the most important reason why a teacher should conduct an item analysis?
To gauge student response and determine how/if instruction needs to be altered.
Selected response assessment items
answer is visible and the student needs only to recognize it. Although selective response items can address higher-level questions, many of them require only lower levels of cognition.
Performance assessments...
are based on observation and judgment of the quality of student work. Examples of the performance itself might be playing a musical instrument, carrying out the steps in a scientific experiment, speaking a foreign language, reading aloud with fluency, repairing an engine, and even working productively in a group.
Formative assessments
are tools that help teachers plan and deliver the most effective instruction for their students. They are designed to measure a student's performance on a single learning objective and occur constantly and routinely to inform the teacher and thus assist the teacher in daily planning.
The STAAR/EOC assessments are...
based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, or the TEKS. They are designed to assess the preparation students have for success in college and careers and to be able to compete globally. The tests primarily assess what was taught that year, rather than an overview of several years' worth of learning. The goal is for students to have a deeper understanding of grade level expectations, rather than superficial understanding over several years. STAAR is considered to be a more rigorous test than TAKS.
Criterion-referenced assessments
compare a student's performance to a specific criterion. Students can earn 100% on a criterion-referenced test if they answer all questions correctly. The difference in reporting norm-referenced results and criterion-referenced results is in the comparison; one reports a comparison to other test takers, and the other reports the comparison against a standard.
Constructed response assessments (also referred to as subjective assessments)
he answer is not visible -- the student must recall or construct it. Constructed response assessments are more conducive to higher-order thinking skills.
Criterion validity
A property exhibited by a test that accurately measures performance of the test taker against a specific learning goal.
Identify which type of assessment (Formative, Summative, Norm-referenced, or Criterion based) is described. Please note it is possible for an assessment to be classified as more than one type. Mark all that apply. Advanced Placement Tests
Criterion-based
Identify which type of assessment (Formative, Summative, Norm-referenced, or Criterion based) is described. Please note it is possible for an assessment to be classified as more than one type. Mark all that apply. Quiz over basic needs of flowering plants in a unit on plants
Criterion-based Formative
Identify which type of assessment (Formative, Summative, Norm-referenced, or Criterion based) is described. Please note it is possible for an assessment to be classified as more than one type. Mark all that apply. End of Unit Assessment For example, a U.S. History test on the War of 1812
Criterion-based Summative
Why is varying the question difficulty level throughout an assessment beneficial for students?
Decreases likelihood that students will "give up" and prevents test fatigue.
When writing matching items, it is best to use which format?
Description on the left and short answers on the right

Formative
Which of the following is NOT a T-TESS Performance Level?
Highly Effective
Interviews
Interviewing consists of observing and questioning students in order to gain insight into attitudes, thinking processes' level-of-understanding, the ability to make connections, or the ability to communicate or apply concepts.
What type of assessment consists of True/False and matching questions?
Objective
What type of assessment consists of multiple choice questions?
Objective
How often must testing personnel be trained on procedure and test security?
Once a year
What is the modern rationale for using assessments in schools? Mark all that apply.
Regional, state, and national school ranking Determine eligibility for enrichment Determine mastery of content
For students in grades 5 and 8
Science is assessed
For students in grade 8
Social Studies is assessed
What type of assessment consists of document based questions ?
Subjective
In terms of assessment, what does it mean for it to be "valid"?
The assessment tests what is intended.
For students in grades 3 - 8
the STAAR test assesses student achievement in Grades 3 - 8 in both Reading and Mathematics
Construct validity
the correspondence between the assessment and a rationale or theory.
Summative Assessment Questions
true/false, matching multiple-choice short answer questions
There are four broad T-TESS domains for teacher evaluation. They are:
Learning environment planning Professional Practices and Responsibilities instruction
What is the first thing a teacher should do when developing assessments?
Set clear and achievable targets for student learning.
What type of assessment consists of Advance Placement Free Response Questions?

Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR)
TAPR Reports are prepared for every school district in Texas and are a part of the public record. School districts are required by law to report the results to the public the same year they are reported. https://tea.texas.gov/Student_Testing_and_Accountability/Accountability/State_Accountability/Performance_Reporting/Texas_Academic_Performance_Reports
ELL and construct validity
English Language Learners (ELLs) probably have a more difficult time on reading tests that are given in English than do native English speakers.

Norm-referenced
Which of the following non-traditional assessments allows for student self-reflection?
Portfolios and reflective journals
If a large portion of the class performs poorly, what should be inferred? Mark all that apply.
There is a lack of content validity with the instruction. The assessment may be flawed.
It is best practice to have a colleague review an assessment prior to giving it to students
True, because this will help ensure the content validity and quality of the assessment.
Norm-referenced assessments
assessments that compare a student's performance on a particular assessment to that of other students in a comparable peer group. This comparison might be made to other students in the same grade (e.g., 3rd grade), other students taking similar coursework (e.g., high school biology), other students of the same age (e.g., 3-year-olds), or other students with similar demographic characteristics (e.g., students with disabilities). When represented graphically, the result is a bell-shaped curve with a small percentage performing poorly, the majority performing in the average range, and a small percentage excelling.
Multiple choice answers should...
be arranged logically, either numerically or alphabetically, and you should avoid using "All of the Above"options.
The Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS)
he state-approved assessment instrument used to appraise teachers in Texas. It consists of 4 domains and 16 dimensions that are designed to support and develop teachers' professional growth. The T-TESS process encourages continuous improvement, evidence-based feedback and appropriate professional development opportunities based on that feedback. The T-TESS instrument involves multiple informal observations and walk-throughs, as well as at least one formal observation. Pre and Post Conferences are an integral part of T-TESS.

Portfolio
is a vehicle for collecting evidence of, tracking, and communicating about student learning. Portfolios offer a way to involve students in self-assessment. Students are able to track their own progress, reflect on their work, and set goals for improvement. Rubrics are often used to identify quality indicators of excellence.
Rubric
standard for scoring in subjective assessment is called a rubric, and can often mitigate subjective bias in an assessment. In addition, a rubric provides clear expectations for students for what is expected.
Subjective Assessment
subjective. Different scorers could conceivably arrive at different scores, unless there was a set standard for scoring
Summative Assessment
summarize the degree of learning or performance of a group of students or individual student. they are administered during a specific point in time to determine whether or not the student met the criteria for the mastery of the curricular standards set by the teacher, state, or the school
Content Validity
the extent to which a test samples the behavior that is of interest
Objective Assessment
two or more scorers would arrive at the same score independent of one another
For students in grades 4-7
