Unit 1- Basics
Terabyte
1 trillion bytes
Kilobyte
This is a unit of data measurement that is equivalent to approximately one thousand bytes of data. It's actually 1,024 bytes!
Gigabyte
a unit of information equal to one billion (1,073,741,824) bytes or 1024 megabytes
Hz
hertz (a unit of frequency)
Clock
n. a device that measures and shows time
MHz
(MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (1, 4, 8, 16, 32 or 64) can be manipulated at least one million times per second.
Byte
A standard unit to measure computer memory, usually consisting of 8 bits
CPU
Abbreviation of central processing unit. The CPU is the brains of the computer. Sometimes referred to simply as the processor or central processor, the CPU is where most calculations take place.
Ghz
Gigahertz, a measure of frequency. A one GHz processor can cycle through its registers 1 billion times in one second.
Frequency
In sound perception, it is the number of sound wave cycles per second.
KHz
Kilohertz. (1,000 hertz/cycles per second).
Megabyte
a unit of information equal to one million (1,048,576) bytes
